Position OverviewPrep Academy Tutors of Upper Manhattan & the Bronx is seeking dedicated, knowledgeable, and compassionate Academic Tutors to support students in grades K–12 across a variety of subject areas. We specialize in high-quality, customized tutoring services that help students strengthen foundational skills, master advanced content, and prepare for standardized exams.Our Upper Manhattan & the Bronx division is committed to supporting families with exceptional, relationship-focused educational services.Key ResponsibilitiesProvide one-on-one academic tutoring in core subjects (Math, English Language Arts, Science, Social Studies, and/or Foreign Languages)Support students with homework, study skills, executive functioning, and test preparationDevelop individualized learning plans based on student needs and assessment resultsTrack student progress and provide regular updates to familiesFoster a positive, encouraging, and professional learning environmentTravel to students' homes (Upper Manhattan and/or the Bronx) or conduct virtual sessionsQualificationsBachelor's degree required; Master's degree or teaching certification preferredStrong subject-matter expertise in at least one core academic areaPrior teaching or tutoring experience (classroom, private tutoring, or small-group instruction)Ability to differentiate instruction for diverse learnersExcellent communication and organizational skillsReliable transportation (for in-person tutoring assignments)Authorized to work in the United StatesWhat We OfferCompetitive hourly compensationFlexible schedulingOngoing professional supportMeaningful, long-term relationships with students and familiesSchedule & AvailabilityTutoring sessions typically take place:Weekday afternoons and eveningsWeekends (as needed)Tutors create schedules based on their availability and student demand.Work LocationUpper Manhattan and The Bronx (in-home and virtual options available)RequirementsA qualified applicant will have a bachelor's degree and will also meet at least one of the following criteria:· You hold a valid NY State teaching certificate or the equivalent thereof· You are a current student teacher; pursuing a teaching certificate· You have 2 or more years experience as a classroom teacher in a private or charter school.· You have experience as a lecturer/course instructor at an accredited U.S. University or College· You are a Master's/PhD student with experience as a teaching assistant at an accredited U.S. University or CollegeHow to ApplyInterested candidates should submit a resume and brief cover letter outlining subject expertise, availability, and preferred grade levels.
