Public Works Technician I-Channel

OverviewThe Public Works Technician I - Channel is responsible for the preventative and corrective maintenance of the stormwater infrastructure and drainage system operations. This position operates various maintenance equipment in an effort to meet the yearly goals of channel maintenance and repairs.ResponsibilitiesObeys all traffic laws while operating fleet vehicles, follows City policies, and performs daily pre/post inspections on all types of equipment and vehiclesFollows the Traffic control standards as per the Texas MUTCD Work Zone Traffic Control GuideDirects traffic control at jobsite by flagging, cones, barrel and barricades, setup message boards, water barrier, Type I, II, II Barricade during normal and emergency operationsWorks with a crew of Technician II's and III's to install, repair, and maintain storm inlets, and manholesOperates hand tools, water pumps, and power saws; works in confined spaces and demonstrates workplace safetyInvestigates issues reported on the drainage systemWorks an On-Call duty rotation schedule and must be able to work a different rotation shift under emergency responsesKeeps materials in stock in vehicle assignment and communicates when supplies/ materials are lowCommunicates with internal and external customers; ensures proper communication with the Foreman, work coordinator, planner/ scheduler and assistant directorCompletes daily reports and work orders ensuring they are legibleMay be asked to perform other duties as assignedPosition Type and Typical Hours of WorkNon-Exempt-Full-Time-Non - Rotating 40-hour work week, Monday - Friday, 7:00am to 04:00pmMust be available to work additional hours as neededFlexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays is a schedule requirementIn the event of an emergency, employees are required to work to provide for the safety and well-being of the public, including the delivery and restoration of vital servicesThe above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by individuals assigned to this job.
