Responsible for the development, implementation, and management of agency-wide information governance policies which identify and establish the roles, responsibilities, and processes by which agency personnel manage information as an asset.
Interprets and applies laws, regulations, policies, and guidance to provide access to Federal agency records and information, while ensuring protected information is appropriately disclosed.
Implements Privacy Act (PA) programs and serves as point of contact responsible for the development, administration and conduct for the assigned area of responsibility PA programs.
Manages and administers the Privacy Act programs, serves as liaison to customers, clarifies and resolves issues with responsibility for planning, developing, and communicating the organizations' programs, policies, and activities.
Assists the Privacy Officer in serving as the technical expert to DLA on all matters relating to the management and oversight responsibilities for the DLA domestic Privacy Act Program and exercises functional control over these functions within DLA.
Handles all Privacy Act requests that may initially be sent to international and/or remote Commodity Business Units (CBU) locations.
Coordinates Privacy response process, evaluating the request, directing the search for relevant information, determining the ability for release of information, and preparing a timely, formal response.

Qualifications
To qualify for a Government Information Specialist, your resume and supporting documentation must support:
A. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position and is directly in or related to this position.
B. Education cannot be substituted in lieu of experience for this position.

Drug-Free Workplace Policy
The Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) is committed to maintaining a safe, drug-free workplace. All DLA employees are required to refrain from illegal drug use on and off duty. DLA conducts pre-employment, reasonable suspicion, post-accident, and random drug testing. Applicants tentatively selected for employment in testing designated positions will undergo a urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment. Refusal to undergo testing or testing positive for illegal drugs will result in withdrawal of the tentative job offer and a six-month denial of employment with DLA from the date of the drug test. Employees in drug testing designated positions are subject to random drug testing. The DLA drug testing panel tests for the following substances: marijuana, cocaine, opiates, heroin, phencyclidine, amphetamines, methamphetamines, fentanyl, norfentanyl, methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA), methylenedioxyamphetamine (MDA), and opioids.
ADVISORY: Use of cannabidiol (CBD) products may result in a positive drug test for marijuana. DLA employees are subject to Federal law and under Federal law, Marijuana is a Schedule I drug and is illegal.
