Think of us as the travel buddy who handles the logistics while you focus on what you do best helping people heal.Roles & ResponsibilitiesProvide compassionate, expert post-anesthesia care for patients in Phase I and Phase II recoveryPerform thorough patient assessments, monitor vital signs, and identify early signs of complicationsAssess incision sites, manage pain control (including PCA pumps), and monitor temperature and stabilityCollaborate with anesthesiology, surgical teams, and interdisciplinary staff to coordinate safe handoffsRespond rapidly and confidently to emergencies and changes in patient status using critical care skillsDocument care, interventions, and patient progress accurately and in a timely mannerOperate and troubleshoot unit equipment (monitors, IV pumps, Pyxis, warming devices) with proficiencySupport a positive patient and family experience through clear communication and advocacyQualificationsActive State of Hawaii RN license required by assignment start date (travelers must apply upon offer if not yet licensed)Minimum 2+ years experience as a critical care RN (ER/ICU) or equivalent PACU experience preferredCurrent BLS and ACLS from the American Heart AssociationPALS (AHA) recommended and may be required for specific rolesOther specialty certifications (NIHSS, TNCC) preferred and may be required for specific positionsProof of flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption prior to contract startKnowledge & SkillsPost-anesthesia care (Phase I and Phase II) and perioperative nursing principlesAdvanced knowledge of anesthesiology-related patient managementStrong patient assessment and critical thinking skills in acute post-op settingsExperience with critical care interventions and surgical nursing contextsFamiliarity with Meditech charting and unit technologiesExperience using PCA pumps, Braun IV pumps, Pyxis systems, Cryocuff, SCDs and warming devicesCompetence with HP and Phillips patient monitors and alarm managementBenefitsSupportive team that values your expertise and well-beingLicensure assistance and guidance to help you obtain your State of Hawaii RN licenseHelp with credentialing and onboarding so you can start confidentlyPaid time off policies and coverage options to rechargeComprehensive medical, dental & vision options (where offered)Opportunities for professional development and specialty certification supportRelocation and travel coordination support for contract nursesA collaborative environment with experienced perioperative and critical care cliniciansTravel Perks: Explore Hilo, HIThis is a Hilo-based travel assignment — think lush rainforests, waterfalls and island life between shifts.
