The successful candidate will be responsible for the supervision and management of the residential experiences for residents. Additionally, the candidate will oversee student staff and handle daily tasks related to the management of the assigned community facilities and residents.This position is located in Farmville, Virginia, and is required to work in person on Longwood University's campus.Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.Essential Responsibilities and Duties:Manage the day-to-day operations within the specified community including improvement, management, facilities, and continued operationsRecruit, select, train, supervise, and evaluate Resident Assistants (RA's)Provide individual and staff direction by conducting weekly meetingsProvide direction regarding programming, community development, and educational initiativesDevelop and conduct staff development programs for RA staffAssist in the development and instruction of workshopsServe as the Professional Staff Member on Call (PSOC), providing back-up for the campus-wide RA staff, managing major emergencies, and contacting the appropriate administrative staffWork collaboratively with student staff to promote individual developmentSupport and enforce all University and departmental policies and regulations, and provide formal and informal disciplinary actionsAdjudicate violations of conduct standardsServe as liaison with maintenance and housekeepingMaintain oversight of budgetsDemonstrate a commitment to student development and professional standards consistent with the mission of the University and Residential and Commuter LifeOther duties as assignedJob Requirements:* Bachelor's degree in Student Personnel or related field and professional or significant graduate experience in residence life required* Experience supervising, managing, or advising student staffPreferred qualifications:Master's degree in Student Personnel or related fieldMental health experienceCrisis/emergency response experiencePsychoeducational or social programming experiencePrior experience in Higher EducationAccess to reliable transportationAdditional Information:This position is a full-time, administrative & professional faculty, exempt position with a base salary of $43,888 and a 12-month renewable contract. The compensation package includes a furnished apartment with a network connection and utilities, a $500 sign-on bonus, a dining hall meal plan, full tuition remission for up to three courses per year, and a professional development stipend. A successful fingerprint based criminal background investigation is required.
