This role partners closely with Site Project Managers and Regional EHS leadership to ensure compliance, mitigate risk, and drive a strong culture of safety across all operations.This position is ideal for a safety professional who thrives in field-driven, compliance-focused environments such as construction, industrial services, or specialty contracting.Key ResponsibilitiesSafety, Health & Environmental ComplianceAnticipate, recognize, evaluate, and mitigate workplace hazardsDevelop, review, and update Job Safety Analyses (JSAs) and task-specific safety plansConduct daily jobsite inspections and lead toolbox and safety meetingsInvestigate and report incidents involving employees, subcontractors, and visitorsEnsure immediate correction and documentation of unsafe conditionsManage return-to-work/light duty processes and coordinate with Workers' CompensationMaintain systems for reporting, tracking, and resolving safety concernsEnsure proper use and adequacy of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)Program Implementation & OversightAssist in the development and implementation of safety policies and proceduresSupport Corporate Safety Committee initiatives and maintain leadership communicationConduct EHS assessments, audits, and compliance reviewsEnsure accurate documentation within systems such as EHS Insight and VistaMonitor employee certifications and training complianceGenerate audit reports and maintain safety records and documentationProvide weekly safety updates and maintain shared safety calendarsLeadership & Team DevelopmentTrain, mentor, and coach field personnel on safety practices and requirementsPromote a proactive, safety-first culture across job sitesEnforce safety policies and administer corrective actions when necessaryCollaborate with project leadership to address safety priorities and performanceCross-Functional CollaborationPartner with field teams, corporate staff, and clients to resolve EHS issuesProvide technical guidance and clear communication on safety requirementsParticipate in meetings with leadership, clients, and regulatory stakeholdersSupport continuous improvement initiatives across safety programsQualifications & RequirementsEducation & CertificationsOSHA 500 Certification (active or ability to obtain within 90 days)BCSP Certification (CSP, CHST, ASP, or similar) or ability to obtain within one yearBachelor's degree in Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or related field preferredExperienceMinimum 10 years of experience in safety or industrial hygiene managementExperience in construction, industrial, or project-based environments requiredPrior experience in a similar leadership role (5+ years preferred)Experience with industrial hygiene practices and hazard evaluation preferredKnowledge, Skills & AbilitiesComprehensive knowledge of OSHA regulations in constructionStrong understanding of safety principles, hazard recognition, and mitigationAbility to communicate technical information clearly and effectivelyStrong writing skills for reports, safety plans, and investigationsProficiency in Microsoft Office and safety management systems (EHS Insight, Vista)Ability to work across all organizational levels, from field personnel to executivesStrong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and work independentlyValid driver's license and reliable transportationLeadership CompetenciesProactive hazard identification and risk mitigationAccountability and enforcement of safety standardsStrong communication and field engagementProblem-solving and decision-makingCollaboration across field and corporate teamsAdaptability in fast-paced, changing environmentsCommitment to continuous improvement and complianceWhy Join FDT?At FDT, safety is at the core of everything we do.
