Macdonald & Company is exclusively retained by a growing real estate developer with an integrated in-house general contracting platform to appoint a Director of Construction.This is an ideal step-up opportunity for a Senior Project Manager who wants to transition into a leadership role within an owner-led, vertically integrated environment, with a clear path to VP of Construction.The OpportunityYou will be a key leader within the firm’s in-house GC, responsible for executing ground-up multifamily developments across Texas.Unlike a traditional GC role, this position offers full alignment with ownership, giving you influence from early preconstruction through delivery, with a focus on long-term value creation, not just project turnover.Key ResponsibilitiesLead execution of ground-up multifamily projects within the in-house GC platformTake ownership across preconstruction, estimating, subcontractor procurement, and field executionWork directly with development and ownership teams to align budget, design, and construction strategyOversee and mentor Project Managers, Superintendents, and field teamsDrive cost control, scheduling, and quality across multiple active projectsBuild and strengthen subcontractor and vendor relationships across TexasContribute to scaling and refining the in-house GC platform, processes, and team structureWhat We’re Looking For8–15+ years of experience within a general contractor or in-house construction platformStrong track record delivering ground-up multifamily (podium, wrap, or high-density)Experience across preconstruction and full-cycle project executionCurrently a Senior Project Manager or Construction Manager ready for a leadership stepStrong operational mindset with the ability to run projects and develop peopleEntrepreneurial attitude, someone who wants to help build and scale a platform
