PT Pooled Aquatics (Lifeguard)

Duties The primary responsibility of a lifeguard is to ensure patron safety and protect lives. The Lifeguard position is a seasonal position with the City of Pasadena Parks & Recreation Department. Prevent injuries by minimizing or eliminating hazardous situations or behaviors. Enforce all facility rules and regulations and educate patrons about them. Recognize and respond quickly and effectively to all emergencies. Administer first aid, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), or use an automated external defibrillator (AED) in an emergency if needed. Inform other staff and managers when more help or equipment is needed. Complete incident reports. Perform cleaning tasks as assigned by any upper Management. Inspect the facility and equipment daily and report any safety issues. Maintain fitness level (swimming skills, strength and endurance). Maintain certifications from the American Red Cross in Lifeguarding, CPR with AED, First Aid, Water Park, and BBP (can obtain through the City of Pasadena prior to hire). Customer Satisfaction: Display customer service with greetings, surveys, and acknowledgments. Handle customer concerns promptly and provide feedback to ensure customer satisfaction. In-Service Trainings: Attend and actively participate in weekly and city-wide In-Service Trainings. Required Work Days/Times/Hours: Lifeguards may work up to a 39-hour week. Depending on the pool site, the hours required to work may fluctuate. Lifeguards may be scheduled to work as early as 7am or as late as 9:00 p.m. Weekly In-Service Trainings are mandatory for Lifeguards. Must have and maintain, without interruption, all necessary licenses, certifications, clearances, and/or job requirements. Work the assigned schedule and comply with City timekeeping and attendance policy. Other duties as assigned by supervisor.Qualifications: American Red Cross in Lifeguarding, CPR with AED, First Aid, blood borne pathogens, and Water Park certification (can be obtained through the City of Pasadena prior to hire).
