Machinist 1st Shift - Chattanooga, TN / Plant 1Responsible for operating machine tools to produce precision metal parts. Produces small batches or large quantities of metal parts. Ensure products meet precise specifications.Key ResponsibilitiesWork from blueprints, sketches or computer-aided design (CAD), and computer-aided manufacturing (GibbsCAM) files.Set up, operate, and disassemble manual, automatic, and computer-numeric controlled (CNC) machine tools, and computer-aided machine.Align, secure, and adjust cutting tools and work piecesMonitor the feed and speed of machinesTurn, mill, drill, shape, and grind machine parts to specificationsUse both manual and computer-controlled machineryMeasure, examine, and test completed products for defectsSmooth the surfaces of parts or productsPresent finished work pieces to customers and makes modifications if neededOperator crane and forklift.Any other duties as deemed necessary or appropriateKnowledge and EducationHigh school diploma/GED required with technical schooling preferred.At least 1 year machinist job-related experience.Experience using lathes, milling machines, and grinders, ideally within a metal stamping facilityCan demonstrate AutoCAD, GibbsCam programming experience.Key Qualifications/RequirementsAbility to work under pressure to meet tight timelines.Clear understanding of Lean Principals & ToolsAdditional InformationSpecific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focusWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to handle, manipulate, or feel objects, tools or controls, reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, talk and hearEmployee must occasionally lift or move up to 50 poundsWhile performing the duties of the job, the employee is exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the timeThe noise level in the work environment is usually moderateThe ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentencesThe ability to communicate information and ideas in speaking so other will understandThe ability to concentrate on a task over a period of time without being distractedWe are an Equal Opportunity Employer and seek to hire the best candidate regardless of age, beliefs, disability, ethnicity, gender or sexual orientation.About UsWe are a multi-technology company present in over 20 countries and our team of over 40,000 is made up of 90 different nationalities.
