Generator Technician
Hours per day: 11.5Rotation: 3 x 3 or as assignedPurpose of Position:Maintain power plants/generators on Alaska’s North Slope.Educational Requirements:High school graduate or GED equivalent.Technical/Vocational School related training preferred..Experience and Background:Must have a minimum of two (2) years of generator maintenance and repair experience. Knowledge and skills to perform overhaul and repairs on diesel/natural gas fueled generators/engines; both mobile and non-mobile. Team player and excellent customer service skills. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively; both oral and written and follow instructions.Troubleshooting skills involving ATS, Paralleling Switch Gear, electrical distribution equipment, and HVAC systems with the ability to read and interpret complex electrical schematics required.Certificates, Licenses, or other Requirements:Valid State ID, Driver’s License or government-issued IDNorth Slope Training Cooperative (NSTC) Card – preferred, not requiredAbility to lift & carry 50 pounds on regular basis, routine walking, standing, bending. There is a lack of immediate access to critical medical services, as well as urban community services.Pass UA/BA & pre-hire fit-for-duty test11.50 - 12.50 hours per day, 14 - 28 days straight as required.Essential Functions:Safe job performanceMaintain and repair critical life support equipmentPreventative and predictive maintenance skillsAbility to work in a remote arctic environment with limited communication for extended periods of time.
