Physical Therapist - School Based
School-Based Physical Therapist (Pediatric)Location: Elmira City School District (Elmira, NY)Schedule Options: Full-time, 10-month (summers off) or 12-monthYour RoleAs a Physical Therapist, you will evaluate students, develop individualized treatment plans, and deliver evidence-based therapeutic interventions in alignment with physical therapy best practices. You will work closely with an interdisciplinary team and report directly to the Clinical Coordinator of Rehabilitation Services.What You'll DoReview therapy referrals and conduct thorough assessments of students' physical needs and functional abilities.Develop and implement individualized treatment plans incorporating therapeutic exercise, gait training, soft tissue techniques, modalities, and functional training.Instruct students in the proper use of mobility aids, braces, prosthetics, and adaptive equipment to promote independence and safety.Monitor student progress on an ongoing basis and adjust treatment plans as needed to achieve optimal outcomes.Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary care team members to ensure coordinated, comprehensive care.Complete all required documentation accurately and on time, including evaluations, progress notes, and discharge summaries.Provide clinical direction and guidance to rehabilitation support staff.Maintain safety standards, therapy equipment, and infection control procedures in accordance with facility guidelines.Contribute to quality improvement initiatives, departmental meetings, and committee activities.Assist with student transport and provide coverage support for senior therapists as needed.Participate in continuing education, staff trainings, and ongoing professional development.Deliver age-appropriate, patient-centered care across all student populations.QualificationsLicensed (or eligible for licensure) as a Physical Therapist in New York StateBLS certification required within 90 days of hireHospital or acute care experience preferredPhysical RequirementsModerate to significant physical activity including lifting, pushing, and pullingAbility to lift 30 lbs independently and up to 150 lbs with assistanceSafety & Infection ControlCategory II exposure (occasional exposure to blood/body fluids)
