JOB DESCRIPTIONJOB TITLE: PsychometristREPORTS TO: Executive Director of Exceptional EducationJOB GOAL: To achieve and maintain standards of excellence in the selection, administration, scoring, and interpretation of appropriate test and testing instrumentsMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Alabama certification as a Psychometrist at the master's level or aboveMinimum of three (3) years' teaching experience or equivalent clinical experienceExperience in all types of individual psychological evaluationKnowledge of disability area eligibility criteria and process; knowledge of local service agenciesEffective interpersonal skills, with an emphasis on communication and collaboration with a wide variety of people and groupsAbility to use technology to communicate, to plan and provide instruction, to facilitate student learning, to manage data, and to produce/submit required reports, correspondence, and/or financial informationAbility to work effectively in a team environmentSuch Alternatives to the above qualifications as state, federal, and local law and the Board may requireDUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Demonstrates support for the school system and its vision, mission, goals, and prioritiesSelects testing instruments that are appropriate for each student's exceptionalityAdministers appropriate individual psychological tests and other assessment instruments as needed for the determination of eligibility for services for students with disabilitiesObserves the referred student during testing for any language barrier, sensory, motor, physical, or emotional impairment that might require any subsequent specialized testingArranges for prompt testing of new referrals and timely reevaluation of students with disabilitiesPlans and implements an efficient and effective process for the determination of eligibility for services for students with disabilitiesParticipates in eligibility meetings to interpret the results of the evaluations administeredParticipates in the District's professional development for instructional support teachersMakes recommendations based on student assessment results to the IEP team for determination of eligibilityStays current regarding State and Federal regulations regarding students withdisabilitiesStays current regarding newly adopted intellectual, achievement, and behavioralevaluationsProvides in-service education to exceptional education staff concerning the interpretation of test resultsProvides information, consultation, and assistance to classroom teachersMaintains and submits required reports, records, and correspondence in a timely and accurate mannerProperly cares for equipment and material resources of the school systemMaintains confidentiality of student information and decisions related to studentsAdheres to local Board policies, administrative procedures, and other like directives, as well as state, federal, and local lawsPerforms other job-related duties as assigned by Supervisor(s)This job description describes the general nature and level of work performed by employees assigned to this position.
