Oversees specialty operations, medication access, accreditation, and growth initiatives. Drives performance across clinical, financial, and market-facing functions, including payer and manufacturer relationships.Essential FunctionsSpecialty Operations & StrategyLead specialty pharmacy operations, call center, and access servicesDevelop and execute growth strategies, service expansion, and performance improvementEstablish and monitor KPIs across clinical, operational, and financial outcomesMedication Access & AffordabilityOversee prior authorization, reimbursement, and access programsPartner with clinics to improve patient access and reduce delaysCollaborate with finance to monitor denials and optimize reimbursementAccreditation & ComplianceMaintain specialty pharmacy accreditation and regulatory complianceLead quality programs, reporting, and required governance structuresMarket Development & PartnershipsSupport payer contracting and preferred network participationBuild manufacturer relationships and secure access to limited-distribution drugsAnalyze reimbursement and negotiate contract terms with leadershipPeople LeadershipLead pharmacists, technicians, and access teamsBuild capabilities aligned to specialty pharmacy standards and growthFinancial ManagementOversee financial performance, budgeting, and pipeline forecastingDevelop business cases to support program growth and sustainabilityOther QualificationsOperational & Clinical ResponsibilitiesExecute hospital and pharmacy policies; support development and ongoing reviewOversee pharmaceutical care delivery, including staffing and clinical services (rounding, clinics, monitoring, dosing, stewardship)Serve as a clinical role model and resource for staffSupport recruitment, onboarding, and developmentMaintain required competencies in sterile and non-sterile compounding, including hazardous medicationsPerform quality assurance activities and resolve operational issues (e.g., dispensing systems)Support investigational drug studies and provide coverage as neededCommunication & CollaborationCommunicate effectively with patients, providers, and interdisciplinary teams, clearly articulating clinical recommendationsBuild strong, collaborative relationships across departments and participate in committeesContribute to a positive team environment and demonstrate professionalism and integrityAttend and lead relevant meetings and service line discussionsInitiative & Professional PracticeDemonstrate independent judgment, accountability, and attention to detailSupport program development, education, and continuous improvement initiativesMaintain current knowledge of clinical and professional trendsComplianceAdhere to all organizational policies, regulatory requirements, and HIPAA standardsPerform other duties as assignedEducationAdditional Job Description:Graduated from an ACPE accredited College of Pharmacy (required)ExperiencePost-Graduate Year 2 (PGY-2) Specialty Residency plus two (2) years of experience in specialty area ORPost-Graduate Year 1 (PGY-1) Pharmacy Residency plus three (3) years of experience in specialty area ORFive (5) years of experience in specialty areaTwo (2) years of leadership experience (preferred)LicensureActive and unrestricted licensure as a pharmacist from the Kentucky Board of Pharmacy, or eligibility for license with the expectation of obtaining an active and unrestricted pharmacist licensure prior to job start date. (required)CertificationCurrent board certification by Board of Pharmacy Specialties® or Certified Specialty Pharmacist certification required (required)Current Apexus Certified Expert Credential (preferred)
