Converting Superintendent

The Converting Superintendent is responsible for leading the day-to-day operations of a high-speed manufacturing environment, supporting tissue converting operations.This role oversees frontline leaders and production teams to ensure products are made safely, efficiently, and to quality standards. The Superintendent is accountable for meeting production targets, controlling costs, and driving continuous improvement across converting operations.We are looking for a strong leader who is motivated by growth, demonstrates managerial courage, and is either ready for advancement or actively working toward the next step in their career.REPORTINGThe Converting Superintendent reports to the Converting Manager.Accountabilities Lead daily operations of converting/finishing processes, ensuring production targets, quality standards, and cost goals are met Supervise and support front-line leaders and production teams to deliver safe and efficient operations Promote a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with all environmental and OSHA regulations Partner with Maintenance to ensure equipment reliability, proper maintenance practices, and operator training Review and adjust production schedules to improve efficiency, uptime, and customer service performance Monitor and improve key performance indicators such as waste, downtime, throughput, and labor efficiency Identify root causes of production issues and implement sustainable solutions Maintain accurate production, safety, and compliance records Drive continuous improvement initiatives and standard operating procedures (SOPs) Support capital projects and provide input on equipment performance and upgrades Manage departmental budgets and control operating costs Build a positive team environment, address employee concerns, and promote accountability Execute department goals aligned with overall mill/manufacturing objectivesWhat We’re Looking ForExperience & Background Leadership experience in a manufacturing environment such as paper, pulp, tissue, converting, packaging, or printing 10+ years of supervisory experience in converting or similar manufacturing operations (required) Experience with high-speed equipment, production processes, and continuous improvement methods Education Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field strongly preferred Equivalent experience in manufacturing leadership will also be considered Key Skills & Attributes Managerial courage – able to make tough decisions, hold teams accountable, and address performance issues directly and respectfully Strong communication skills, both written and verbal Ability to lead, coach, and develop teams Strong problem-solving and analytical skills Proven ability to deliver results and meet performance targets High level of organization and ability to manage multiple priorities Experience leading change and driving operational improvements Ability to work cross-functionally with operations, maintenance, and leadership teams Professional, approachable, and team-oriented leadership style CAREER GROWTH OPPORTUNITYThis Role Is Ideal For Candidates Who Are Looking for upward mobility within operations leadership Interested in developing into higher-level leadership roles Committed to continuous learning and career growth within manufacturing We welcome candidates from paper, pulp, tissue, converting, packaging, printing, or other related industries who are ready to take the next step in their career.The intent of this job description is to provide a representative summary of duties and responsibilities that will be required of positions given this title and shall not be construed as a declaration of the specific duties and responsibilities of any position.
