What This Job InvolvesThe Instrumentation Technician is responsible for performing service activities relating to the calibration, maintenance and repairs of instrumentation calibration instruments and equipment.What is your day to day?Provide calibration, troubleshooting, and repair of analytical instruments used in industrial process equipmentEnter calibration data and service information into the CMMSRespond to trouble calls and perform diagnostics and repairsEscort vendors in need of lab access to perform assigned calibration and maintenance workEnsure vendor provides complete maintenance documentation upon work completionReview and process external vendor calibration, PM and repair documentation per established proceduresAssist with identification and purchase of spare partsPrepare and organize technical documentation and operational proceduresWrite calibration and preventive maintenance Standard Operating Procedures or Work InstructionsCollect and organize technical data from equipment manufacturers, equipment users, and engineering personnelMentor other instrument and instrumentation techniciansMust know the operating principles and be proficient with the operational techniques of instrumentation analytical instrumentsGeneral knowledge of GxPMust be able to work with minimal supervisionObtain vendor quotes and submit work authorizationsCollaborate with Lab Users to ensure equipment availability and minimal interruption to operationsWork overtime or temporarily modify shift schedule to support Life Sciences R&D Operations as neededRequired QualificationsHigh School Diploma or equivalent1-2 years of progressive experience in analytical or process control instrumentation or a closely related job with a proven performance record is highly desirable1-2 years’ experience as a field service technician / engineer or as service contractor for an analytical instrument manufacturer is desirable or an Electronics Engineering 2-year curriculum at a technical school or an associate degree in a related science or engineering major, including substantial relevant on-the-job trainingProficient in Microsoft Office SuiteGeneral understanding of the International System of Units (SI)Physical requirementAbility to lift 35 poundsOther Qualifications:Exceptional customer service skillsHighly collaborative with strong interpersonal skillsExcellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate professionallyExcellent organizational skillsAbility to solve problems and develop process enhancementsAbility to work independently – strong prioritization and time management skillsAbility to work with diverse teams – lead by example; respectful, cooperative, accountableAbility to manage multiple priorities and deliver results in a fast-paced environmentAbility to quickly adapt to new devices, technology, and applicationsAdhere to the appearance policyPossess good oral and written communication skillsMust be able to pay close attention to detailsMust be able to efficiently prioritize the workloadAbility to read and interpret engineering documents and equipment schematics
