Job Title: Survey Crew ChiefJob DescriptionWe are seeking a skilled Survey Crew Chief to conduct various types of surveying including boundary, topographic, ALTA/NSPS, subdivisions, and construction stakeouts. This role involves performing survey calculations, interpreting and verifying survey data, preparing survey documents, and assisting with project tasks such as scope, budget, and scheduling. The majority of projects will focus on construction layouts for data centers and automotive plants.ResponsibilitiesConduct various types of surveys including boundary, topographic, ALTA/NSPS, subdivisions, and construction stakeouts.Perform survey calculations and verify the accuracy of survey data.Assist with the preparation of survey data, charts, plots, maps, records, and documents.Search legal records, survey records, and land titles to obtain property information.Write descriptions of surveys for use in deeds, leases, or other legal documents.Monitor equipment and survey supplies.Assist with reviewing the scope, budget, and schedule of new project tasks.Monitor task budget and progress.Conduct on-site inspections as needed.Prepare project status and other reports.Assist in the preparation of proposals.Support Project Managers.Attend client, public, project, and staff meetings including client progress, plan review, and pre-construction.Essential Skills3 plus years in surveyingConstruction staking experienceConstruction layout experienceKnowledge of Trimble equipment (Total Station, GPS, Laser Scanners)Trimble Access Software knowledgeValid driver's license and clean driving recordAdditional Skills & Qualifications7 plus years as a Survey Crew ChiefTrimble Business Center Software knowledgeMDOT Survey experienceBoundary resolution experienceCivil 3D knowledgeLaser scanning experienceWork EnvironmentThis role requires the ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions. The position offers flexible hours from Monday to Friday, with some Saturdays required. The work involves traveling to different project locations in Southeast Michigan. Employees will receive a $50 monthly allowance for cell phone usage and a work truck as soon as available.
