Job Duties
Ensure that Packaging Operators and packaging lines are operating efficiently and effectively.
Work with Material Expediters and warehouse staff to coordinate the movement of product between the manufacturing and warehousing areas.
Coordinate the release of work orders to packing lines based on packaging schedule
Assign labor to packing line based on schedule and employee capabilities
Serve as a "Qualified Trainer" as needed.
Take active role in shift transition period to ensure smooth and efficient change of personnel.
Field most of packaging operator questions/issues regarding production. Involve supervisor in issues that are more complicated.
Perform administrative shift/production tasks as assigned by Supervisor.
Triage Maintenance calls from packaging lines
Fill in as Supervisor for vacation coverage
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED
Work experience with food or beverage industry a plus
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Strong working knowledge of Windows Office Suite, Adobe Illustrator, TOPS, JD Edwards, and Spec Management Systems.
Ability to effectively establish working relationships with various Westrock departments / supervisors and management personnel.
Ability to work weekends and extended hours as needed to support operational needs.
Ability to operate and become a trainer on packaging equipment
Ability to resolve minor mechanical issues on packaging lines
Ability to fill in as packaging operator
Flexibility to work other shifts or other sites as needed
