As the Missions Coordinator you would advance the Diocese of Springfield in Illinois’ participation in the Church’s worldwide mission by supporting The Pontifical Mission Societies (TPMS) through the Office for Missions, under the direction of the Director of Missions, while collaborating regularly with regional and national TPMS leadership and serving as a key diocesan liaison. TPMS, the Church’s official mission agency, fosters understanding and support for the Church’s global missionary work; locally this includes promoting World Mission Sunday, partnering with the Missionary Childhood Association, and coordinating the Missionary Cooperative Program (MCP), which brings visiting missioners to parishes across the Diocese. The role blends faith-driven formation with practical coordination—managing communications, records, and logistics in close partnership with the Office of Accounting—and ensures that the Office for Missions’ steady annual rhythm of activities is carried out with clarity, accuracy, and professional, pastorally sensitive conduct within diocesan offices and in public ministry settings. This is a full-time on-site position working a 4 day work week. Key Responsibilities • Coordinate the Missionary Cooperative Program (MCP), including application intake, communication with participating organizations, and tracking assignments. • Support the Missionary Childhood Association, including monitoring and providing content for the “TPMS Moderator” Facebook group and assisting the Director in planning the annual Mission Mass for Catholic school students. • Support promotional efforts for World Mission Sunday and assist with correspondence and logistics for other TPMS initiatives as needed. • Maintain organized records for mission programs and appeals. • Serve as a point of contact for parishes regarding special offertories, particularly World Mission Sunday. • Assist visiting MCP missioners with logistical and procedural questions. • Track mission collection submissions and follow-up as needed in partnership with accounting. • Process check requests and prepare payments with accompanying correspondence. • Maintain calendars, files, and digital records related to mission programs. • Process incoming and outgoing mail related to TPMS. What We’re Looking For • Practicing Catholic in full communion with the teachings of the Church. • Ability to manage multiple ongoing projects and recurring deadlines. • Commitment to the mission of the Diocese and the teachings of the Catholic Church. • Ability to effectively use standard office equipment (e.g., telephone, copier, scanner). • Proven ability to solve problems within job duties and make effective decisions. • Ability to perform all job responsibilities, including data entry, while maintaining a high degree of accuracy and confidentiality. • Strong written and verbal communication skills. • Excellent organizational and recordkeeping skills. • Ability to follow through with work assignments to completion. • Ability to be a self-starter and work with minimal supervision. • Ability to interpret data and provide recommendations for process improvements. • Ability to represent the Diocese professionally in all communications. • Willingness to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment. • Valid driver’s license.
