Stepdown RN - Lenexa, KS

Provide skilled nursing care in an acute step-down unit focused on rehabilitation services. This contract opportunity offers a focused setting where your expertise in telemetry and acute rehab nursing can make a meaningful impact.Location: This position is based in Lenexa, KS, a thriving community known for its blend of suburban comfort and access to urban amenities. Residents enjoy a strong local economy, parks, shopping, and convenient transportation routes to nearby cities.Schedule/Hours:Night shifts3 days per week12-hour shifts (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)Responsibilities:Monitor and care for patients in a 30-bed acute medical-surgical rehab unitUtilize telemetry for both on-unit and remote monitoringPerform blood glucose monitoring; administer insulin per protocolsManage Foley catheter removal and central line care, including PICC linesStart and maintain IV linesAdminister blood and blood products safelyConduct fall risk assessments and assist with fall prevention strategiesImplement infection prevention and isolation precautions, including PPE useCollaborate with the care team to support patient rehabilitative progressFlexibly float between departments as needed within scopeQualifications:Active RN licenseMinimum 1 year of nursing experience (first-time nurses accepted)Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification requiredExperience in acute rehab nursing with telemetry monitoring preferredKnowledge of EPIC charting system is beneficialAbility to work a minimum of 8 weekend shifts per 6 weeks; holiday coverage as requiredAdditional Details:Nursing staff wear navy blue scrubsLift equipment is available for safe patient handlingContract position with a requirement to be located at least 75 miles from the facilityGuaranteed hours: At least 3 shifts per 13 weeks with defined cancellation policiesNo block scheduling or local radius restrictions
