Job Description Salary: Based on experienceLower Elementary Teacher (Grades 13) Blue Ridge Montessori School, Lynchburg, VAPosition: Lower Elementary Lead GuideSchedule: Full-time, academic year (with summer optional programs)Start Date: 26-27 SYPosition SummaryWe are seeking a warm, organized, and enthusiastic Lower Elementary Teacher to teach students in grades 13. The ideal candidate holds or is eligible for a Virginia teaching license and has Montessori certification OR is willing to obtain Montessori certification while working here. The teacher will design and implement developmentally appropriate lessons, manage a mixed-age Montessori-style classroom, maintain ongoing assessment and family communication, and participate actively in the school community.Key ResponsibilitiesPlan and deliver a standards-aligned, Montessori-informed curriculum for grades 13: literacy, math, science, social studies, practical life, and grace & courtesy.Prepare and maintain a prepared environment and Montessori materials; ensure classroom areas are clean, inviting and developmentally appropriate.Differentiate instruction and use ongoing formative assessments to meet diverse learner needs.Maintain positive communication with families: weekly updates, conferences, progress reports.Collaborate with school leadership and colleagues on curriculum, student support, and school events.Supervise and mentor classroom assistants or practicum students if assigned.Participate in required professional development and school community activities.Required QualificationsVirginia teaching license OR actively pursuing VA licensure with a clear timeline.Experience teaching primary-aged children (grades 13) in a classroom setting.Willingness to learn and implement Montessori pedagogy.Strong classroom management, lesson planning, and communication skills.Commitment to the schools mission, values, and to fostering an inclusive classroom community.Preferred QualificationsMontessori certification (primary / lower elementary).Experience with mixed-age Montessori classroom management and materials.Experience with formative assessment and standards mapping.Compensation & BenefitsSalary range: $40,000 $57,000 (actual placement dependent on licensure, Montessori credential, and experience).Candidates with current VA license + Montessori certification: higher range.Candidates obtaining Montessori certification while working: mid-range with certification support.Certification support package: tuition reimbursement or stipend for Montessori coursework, paid PD days for practicum as needed.BRMS student tuition discount, PTO, Simple IRA with employer match, Forest Direct Primary CarePaid planning time and professional development days.
