Director of Bank Operations

Position Overview: SVP Director of Bank OperationsThe Director of Operations is responsible for overseeing and managing the Bank's overall operations function on a day-to-day basis. This is a broad role that goes beyond loan operations and includes deposit operations, branch operations, wires, BSA, cash management, treasury management, and operational policies and procedures. They are looking for someone who brings a strong community bank operations background and is comfortable stepping into a hands-on leadership role. This is not a purely strategic or oversight position. The right person will be actively involved in the day-to-day operations of the bank, working closely with the team, identifying gaps, and implementing improvements.The operations function is currently in a transitional phase, and this role will play a key part in stabilizing and strengthening the department. This includes training and developing staff, improving processes, and creating more structure and consistency across the team.In short, they are looking for someone who is experienced, practical, and hands-on — someone who enjoys building, problem-solving, and taking ownership of a function in a smaller bank environment.Key Responsibilities Include:Operations Leadership & Oversight:Oversee the Bank's overall operations function, including deposit operations, branch operations, back and front office operations, wires, BSA, cash management, treasury management, etc.Manage day-to-day operational activities, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and strong internal controlsDevelop, implement, and maintain operational policies and proceduresTeam Development & Training:Lead, train, and develop operations staff (approximately 5–6 direct reports)Create cross-training initiatives to ensure coverage and reduce key-person riskEstablish structure, accountability, and consistency across the teamProcess Improvement & Execution:Identify operational gaps and implement improvements to workflows and processesEnsure smooth coordination between branches and back-office functionsAct as a hands-on resource to the team, stepping in where needed to support daily operationsRegulatory & Risk Awareness:Ensure operations are aligned with regulatory requirements and internal policiesMaintain awareness of BSA, compliance, and operational risk considerations within the functionCross-Functional Collaboration:Partner with leadership and other departments to support overall bank operationsServe as a key operational resource to executive leadershipQualifications:5–10+ years of banking operations experience within a community or commercial bankStrong understanding of deposit operations, branch operations, wires, and cash managementExperience managing and developing teamsProven ability to operate in a hands-on, player-coach capacityExperience building or improving processes, procedures, and team structureWhat They're Looking For:A true community banker who is comfortable wearing multiple hatsHands-on and willing to be involved in the day-to-day workSomeone who enjoys building, improving, and creating structureA leader who can train and develop a team while also executingCompensation: (not written in stone)Target range: ~$150k - $180k base, with flexibility for the right candidate depending on experience and fit.
