Access Control Technician
Department: Access ControlReports to: Security ConsultantStatus: Full Time, Non-ExemptJob SummaryThe Access Control Technician is responsible for delivering high-quality installations that meet customer needs in a timely manner. This role includes wire installation, device termination, basic networking, and software installation and programming. A strong understanding of low-voltage systems and basic networking is required.Duties And ResponsibilitiesResponsibilities include, but are not limited to:Install and program access control and CCTV systems and softwareInstall structured cabling, including pulling wire, conduit bending, and free-air runsAdhere to project scope, specifications, and applicable codesCommunicate with management regarding scope changes, material needs, and labor requirementsBuild and maintain positive customer relationships to ensure satisfaction and service qualityPerform preventative maintenance, repairs, and system modifications as neededAccurately document all work completed on daily service ticketsIdentify and procure parts required to complete assigned tasksSupport and assist team members as neededPerform other duties as assignedMinimum Qualifications2–3 years of experience installing access control systems, CCTV systems, and/or structured cablingHigh school diploma or equivalentValid driver’s license with a clean driving recordStrong understanding of low-voltage systems and circuitryBasic knowledge of networking and computer operating systemsAbility to read and follow digital blueprints and scopes of work using electronic devicesStrong organizational and time management skillsExcellent customer service and communication skillsAbility and willingness to learn new technologies and productsAbility to train and mentor junior techniciansTeam-oriented with a collaborative mindsetDesire for career growth within the companyPreferred Certifications (Not Required)OSHA 30CompTIA A+CompTIA Network+CompTIA Security+Cisco Certified Support Technician (CCST)American Association of Automatic Door Manufacturers (AAADM) certificationManufacturer-specific access control or CCTV certificationsPhysical RequirementsAbility to lift up to 50 poundsAbility to work in extreme temperatures and inclement weatherAbility to stand or walk for extended periodsAbility to safely operate a company vehicle
