Government Services Group ManagerThe Manager in the Government Services Group supports state and local government clients by providing technical accounting expertise, financial reporting, grants management, and outsourced accounting services. This role leverages deep knowledge of public administration and GASB standards to deliver high-quality solutions tailored to the unique needs of government finance departments. The Manager collaborates with clients to ensure compliance, improve processes, and enhance financial transparency. This position requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment. The team is a growth-oriented management consulting practice dedicated to building the capacity of organizations. We partner with organizations to help them attain operational excellence, ensure financial sustainability, and effectively achieve their desired impact. Our collaborative approach includes client input and involvement at each stage of an engagement.Job Duties:Service DeliveryProvides technical accounting support to state and local government finance departmentsApplies GASB standards to financial reporting and accounting processesManages outsourced accounting engagements, including month-end close, reconciliations, and financial statement preparationSupports grants management, including compliance, reporting, and documentationAssists with budget development, monitoring, and analysis for government clientsReviews and interprets financial policies, procedures, and regulationsDevelops and delivers training to client staff on accounting and financial reporting topicsCollaborates with clients to identify process improvements and implement best practicesPrepares and reviews financial reports for accuracy and complianceParticipates in client meetings and presentations as a subject matter expertReviews and develops policies and procedures related to accounting, contracts and pricing for the client initiatives to secure new business, including but not limited to participating in Business Development meetings, developing relationships with clients and networking activitiesOther duties as requiredProject ManagementServes as primary contact in client engagements and effectively manages relationships with multiple stakeholdersServes as a project manager for multiple client projects, supporting the team to manage deadlines and ensure client needs are metPractice and Product DevelopmentActively participates in the expansion and development of services for state and local governments, including monthly meetings and other areas of product developmentIdentifies ways to make engagements more efficient and productiveSupervisory Responsibilities:Serves as a member of the consulting group's management teamSupervises, develops, and trains Associates and Senior AssociatesReviews and evaluates work prepared by Associates and Senior AssociatesTrains Associates and Senior Associates on how to use current software tools and Government Services methodologySchedules and supervises workload of Associates and Senior AssociatesProvides verbal and written performance feedback to Associates and Senior AssociatesActs as a Career Advisor to Associates and Senior Associates, as assignedQualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Education:Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Public Administration, requiredAdvanced degree, preferredExperience:Eight (8) or more years of relevant state and local government experience including financial reporting, applying GASB standards, and general accounting, requiredExperience researching and drafting proposals. requiredLicense/Certifications:Certified Public Accountant (CPA), preferredCertified Government Financial Manager (CGFM), preferredSoftware:Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, requiredExperience with government accounting software (e.g., Oracle Public Sector, SAP, etc.), preferredLanguage:N/AOther Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:Excellent verbal and written communication skills, specifically business / report writingStrong analytical and basic research skillsSolid organizational skills especially ability to meet project deadlines with a focus on detailsAbility to successfully multi-task while working independently or within a group environmentAbility to work in a deadline-driven environment and handle multiple projects simultaneouslyAbility to follow and apply specific rules and regulationsAbility to work with minimal supervisionAbility to travel as neededIndividual salaries that are offered to a candidate are determined after consideration of numerous factors including but not limited to the candidate's qualifications, experience, skills, and geography.National Range: $120,000-$165,000 Maryland Range: $125,000-$165,000 NYC/Long Island/Westchester Range: $125,000-$165,000
