Shop Service Tech 1 - Texas First RentalsJob Category: Technical Requisition Number: SHOPS012761Posted: March 24, 2026Full-Time On-site 15242 Tradesman Dr. San Antonio, TX 78249, USADescriptionThe shop service technician performs maintenance and repairs complex mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and diesel systems on a variety of rental and customer equipment and tools while using a high degree of independent judgment.Essential functions:Troubleshoots and diagnoses equipment malfunctions and failuresDisassembles and assembles machine components to manufacturer's specifications through the use of hand tools, pneumatic tools, and any specialized toolingRebuilds, repairs, reconditions and maintains equipment and componentsMaintains good customer relations and support; communicates customer needs to shop managementPlans and controls cost of repair jobsCompletes parts orders and identifies parts for returnMaintains company equipment keeps in good, clean, and orderly conditionWorks safely at all times and adheres to all applicable safety policies; complies with all company policies, procedures, and standardsWorks overtime as required by workload and customers' needsUpdates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; g., ProTech Technician Training PathsPerforms other duties as assignedKnowledge, skills, and abilities:Knowledge of dirt-engaging equipment, aerial, and lifting equipmentKnowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenanceQuality control analysis skills - Conducting tests and inspections of products, services, or processes to evaluate quality or performanceOperation and control skills - Controlling operations of equipment or systemsEquipment selection skills - Determining the kind of tools and equipment needed to do a jobThe ability to quickly and repeatedly adjust the controls of a machine or a vehicle to exact positionsAbility to operate hand tools, power tools, and equipment used in mechanical repairThe ability to make precisely coordinated movements of the fingers of one or both hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble very small objectsThe ability to read and understand information and ideas presented in writingThe ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentencesEducation and experience:More than three years of work-related skill, knowledge, or experience preferredHigh school/equivalent diploma or trade school diploma preferredValid driver's licenseSupervisory responsibilities: NoneTravel: Occasional travel to the customer sitePhysical requirements:Must be able to move objects, and use abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigueFrequently moves materials or equipment weighing up to 50 poundsConstant movement and use of limbs; this position requires good manual dexterity, coordination, and staminaAscend/descend with gradual or continuous progress by oneself, using both hands and feet and climbing up and down laddersBe able to safely maneuver and work underneath equipmentRoutinely reacts to visual, auditory, and other signals, including alarms and instructions, and is required to visually inspect workWork environment:Regularly works indoors around moving mechanical parts and may be exposed to weather extremes when working outside in conditions that include inclement weather, heat, cold, and humidityThe noise level may be loud at timesExposure to small quantities of chemicals, steam, high-pressure water, and high-speed rotating equipmentSignificant time spent in confined spaces and high placesDisclaimer: Please note that the above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by employees assigned to this classification.
