General Information
The Facilities Management Department at James Madison University is accepting applications for an HVAC Supervisor. This position is responsible for supervising technicians, maintaining HVAC requirements campus-wide by supervising and performing systems analysis, corrective and preventive maintenance, inspection and repairs of chillers, pumps, air-handling equipment, cooling towers, and piping systems in 130 plus buildings.

Duties and Responsibilities
Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to
Schedule work to meet the needs of customers with high quality and reliability
Ensure supplies are restocked and organized
Address employee needs and concerns
Effectively communicate with employees, customers, and managers in a timely manner
Keep time cards, leave, work orders, and refrigerant records accurate and updated
Prioritize work orders
Evaluate technician performance
Assist management with refrigerant records by keeping accurate inventory of appliances
Keep shop work order backlog minimum
Fosters organizational skills and seeks out best practices
Attends meetings and trainings
Completes work in a timely manner to satisfy customer needs
Provides clear and concise descriptions on all work orders
Provides documentation of refrigerant usage for EPA records
Performs maintenance on HVAC systems to provide reliable, safe, and efficient operation
Shares learned information and helps with training of technicians
Provides input for the replacement of HVAC systems
Thoroughly reviews replacement equipment for proper applications, efficiency, cost effectiveness, and minimal downtime
Keeps accurate on-call schedule and provide copy to HVAC Manager
Is part of a rotating call schedule of supervisors
Assists with repairs on overtime as needed to ensure proper operation of University systems.
May be required to work other shift temporarily
May be required to preform other duties as needed
Qualifications
Required
Considerable knowledge in diagnostics/troubleshooting and maintenance of HVAC systems, chiller systems, heating and chilled water loops with associated pumping systems, fume hood operation, refrigeration circuits, and associated controls.
Knowledgeable in building codes, safety regulations, and EPA standards
Must be organized, self-motivated, and adaptable to frequent change
Ability to lead and support a crew of HVAC technicians
Must understand the importance of refrigerant management
Must obtain the ability to use various instruments in troubleshooting equipment, electrically, mechanically, and from an efficiency prospective can communicate this knowledge to technicians
Must be available for on-call/overtime
EPA 608 Certification
Must be at least 19 years old and have a valid driver's license for a minimum of 24 months.
