Title: HR Business PartnerLocation: Sartell, MNJob Type: PermanentCompensation: $80,000 - $90,000Industry: Human Resources and Payroll ServicesAbout The RoleWe are recruiting an experienced HR Business Partner on behalf of a client organization that operates within a Professional Employer Organization (PEO) environment, supporting small to mid-sized businesses across multiple industries. This role is ideal for an HR professional who enjoys working in a consultative capacity, managing multiple client relationships, and delivering practical, compliance-driven HR solutions.Unlike a traditional in-house HR role, this position partners with multiple client organizations, serving as a trusted advisor to owners, executives, and managers. Success requires adaptability, strong judgment, and the ability to shift seamlessly between diverse workplace cultures and business needs.Job DescriptionThe HR Business Partner collaborates closely with client leadership teams to deliver strategic and operational HR support aligned with organizational goals and employee needs. This role serves as the primary HR contact for assigned clients, providing guidance on employment law, employee relations, talent management, and compliance while strengthening workplace culture and organizational effectiveness.Key ResponsibilitiesClient Partnership & AdvisoryBuild and maintain strong consultative relationships with client leadership to understand business goals, culture, and workforce challengesServe as the primary HR point of contact, advising on policies, procedures, and employee-related mattersCoach supervisors and employees on HR best practices while balancing business needs, employee goodwill, and complianceHR Strategy & Workforce SupportAlign HR strategies with client business objectives, including workforce planning and organizational developmentConduct regular HR reviews to identify gaps, risks, and improvement opportunitiesRecommend and implement updated HR policies and processes to improve efficiency and service deliveryTalent Management & Employee RelationsSupport recruitment, onboarding, performance management, engagement, and retention strategiesGuide managers through employee coaching, discipline, documentation, and performance discussionsInvestigate and resolve employee concerns and grievances while minimizing riskCompliance & Risk ManagementEnsure client compliance with federal, state, and local employment lawsDevelop, update, and customize employee handbooks, job descriptions, and HR policiesManage investigations, maintain HR records, and represent clients during hearings when requiredTraining & DevelopmentSupport implementation of client training initiatives, including compliance and performance managementAdvise on employee development plans and effective performance review practicesCommunity Engagement & Market PresenceRepresent the organization within the local business community through chambers, professional associations, and industry eventsDevelop referral relationships with CPAs, attorneys, and other professional partnersParticipate in trade shows, networking events, and selected after-hours engagementsTime allocation initially includes approximately 70% HR Business Partner work and 30% community and referral development, subject to change as the client base growsParticipation in market development activities may qualify for performance-based incentive opportunitiesSafety, Wellness & Client Education SupportHelp communicate safety, wellness, and risk-management programs using company-provided tools and materialsFacilitate client access to internal subject-matter experts and resourcesSupport educational sessions focused on safety culture, wellbeing, and risk awarenessQualificationsRequiredBachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field (or equivalent experience)HR certification required (SHRM-CP, PHR, or equivalent)5–7 years of progressive HR experience; experience supporting multiple locations or clients strongly preferredStrong knowledge of federal, state, and local employment lawsDemonstrated experience working with HRIS platformsExcellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple prioritiesStrong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skillsHigh attention to detail and accuracy in documentation and complianceStrong problem-solving, analytical, and critical-thinking skillsAbility to remain professional and effective in a fast-paced, interruption-heavy environmentProficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)Willingness to travel occasionally, including onboarding travel and approximately one overnight stay per monthPreferredExperience in a PEO environment or industry settings such as manufacturingExperience providing consultative HR support to leadership teamsFamiliarity with client-facing or advisory HR rolesBenefitsOur client offers a comprehensive benefits package designed to support the health, financial security, and well-being of our employees.
