The Project Manager is responsible for leading construction projects from planning through completion, ensuring they are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. This role serves as the central point of coordination across clients, field teams, and internal stakeholders—driving collaboration, resolving challenges, and maintaining strong relationships throughout the project lifecycle. As a key leader within operations, this role mentors team members, supports project teams in achieving success, and upholds Charter’s commitment to excellence in execution and client satisfaction.RESPONSIBILITIESSafetyMaintain the company’s core value of Health and Safety at all times.Demonstrate a high level of commitment to all safety standards while executing duties.Ensure project-related safety and quality control goals are achieved.Client & Partner RelationshipsEstablish and maintain positive relationships with owners, architects, and engineers.Identify and source new opportunities from primary clients.Operational ExcellenceEstablish project-specific goals related to safety, quality, schedule, budget, and client relationships.Ensure safety and quality control standards are consistently met.Deliver projects on schedule and within budget, while improving efficiency and profitability when possible.Coordinate staffing needs with Superintendents and leadership.Review project proposals to understand and implement staffing and resource plans.Manage projects in accordance with contract documents to prevent and resolve issues or conflicts.Oversee and resolve claims with subcontractors, vendors, and owners in a timely and professional manner.Ensure compliance with insurance requirements, labor policies, and all applicable regulations.Maintain adherence to quality control and quality assurance programs.Partner with Health & Safety leadership to ensure regulatory compliance across all projects.Document and share best practices and ensure effective construction methods are implemented.Financial ExcellenceManage project financials to maintain budgets and profit margins.Prepare job cost analyses, status reports, and schedule updates on a regular basis.Resolve schedule and budget conflicts efficiently.Develop cost estimates, value engineering solutions, and change order documentation.Ensure accurate and timely invoicing.Negotiate change orders while protecting company interests and ensuring proper compensation.Team DevelopmentCommunicate and reinforce company vision, values, and goals.Ensure team members understand roles and responsibilities.Mentor and develop Assistant Project Managers, Project Engineers, and Superintendents.Support team members with problem-solving and conflict resolution.QUALIFICATIONSEducation & ExperienceBachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business Administration, or related field.2–5 years of managerial or supervisory experience in the construction industry.Technical Knowledge & SkillsAdvanced knowledge of construction methods, materials, costing, and scheduling.Ability to plan and manage projects over a multi-year timeframe.Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.Problem-solving skills at both strategic and functional levels.Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).Experience with HCSS (HeavyBid/HeavyJob) and Timberline preferred.Leadership & Interpersonal SkillsDemonstrated leadership and ability to deliver successful project outcomes.Strong customer and employee relationship skills.Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).Collaborative team player with a commitment to company values.Certifications & RequirementsOSHA 40-hour certification preferred/required.Willingness to travel as needed, including overnight travel.Physical RequirementsAbility to lift 50+ lbs and perform physically demanding tasks.Capability to work at heights, climb ladders/scaffolding, and operate in various weather conditions.Ability to work extended periods on feet and in confined spaces when necessary.
