Source One is a consulting services company and we’re currently looking for the following individual to work as a consultant to our client, an AI and robotics company in Taylor, TX.Title: Robot Operator (Contract)Pay Rate: $32/hour (W-2)Duration: 12-month contractDescription: Our client is seeking Robot Operators to join its deployed team at a customer production facility in the Taylor, TX area. In this role, you’ll operate physical and simulated robotic prototypes in a live production environment, executing recurring customer tasks to a high standard while evaluating autonomous behavior and documenting outcomes. Because engineering and development teams support the deployment remotely, you’ll play a key role in communicating clear, actionable technical observations that help drive product improvements.The ideal candidate is reliable, detail-oriented, and comfortable performing focused, repetitive work to a high level of consistency and precision. You’re a clear written communicator who can work independently, follow strict operating procedures, and professionally represent the company while working onsite at a customer facility. You’re excited to contribute directly to the advancement of real-world robotics technology.Responsibilities:• Safely operate physical and simulated robotic prototypes for extended periods using virtual reality (VR) headsets and controllers, including simulated systems for training and data collection when the customer site is unavailable.• Execute recurring customer tasks with a high degree of consistency, quality, and attention to detail while evaluating autonomous behavior.• Document task outcomes, issues, and technical observations, providing clear, actionable written feedback to remote engineering and development teams.• Represent the company and its technology professionally as a guest at the customer facility.• Follow all customer-site requirements, including safety protocols, protective equipment, cleanliness standards, and controlled-access procedures.• Perform preventative maintenance and basic troubleshooting on robotic systems and maintain robot equipment and work areas.• Participate in projects to improve tools, workflows, and operational processes.Requirements:• Ability to work for extended periods using a virtual reality (VR) headset, with sufficient spatial awareness to safely operate robotic systems• Comfort performing focused, repetitive tasks for extended periods while maintaining quality, consistency, and attention to detail• Strong written communication skills with the ability to clearly document technical observations for remote teams• Ability to consistently follow strict safety, cleanliness, and access protocols within a controlled production environment• Ability to perform the physical requirements of the role, with or without reasonable accommodation, including standing for extended periods and lifting up to 25 pounds• Proficiency using Windows, macOS, and Linux operating systems and office productivity tools• Flexibility to work varying schedules, including different shifts, extended hours, evenings, weekends, or holidays based on the customer’s production schedule• Ability to travel occasionally for onboarding, training, company events, or other business needs• Valid U.S. driver’s license and ability to safely operate company vehicles• Ability to type at least 40 words per minutePreferred Qualifications:• Experience with video gaming, virtual reality systems, or remotely operated platforms such as drones or robotics• Demonstrated proficiency through competitions, public portfolios, streaming platforms, or other verifiable experience• Familiarity with command-line interfaces, GitHub, or version-controlled environments• Experience working onsite at customer or partner facilities, or in controlled production or field environments with strict operating protocolsBenefits:• Pre-tax commuter benefits• Employer subsidized healthcare benefits• Flexible Spending Account for healthcare-related costs• Short- and long-term disability and life insurance• 401(k) package
