Prevention Educator

Job Title: Prevention EducatorPosition Type: Part-time, seasonalHours of Work: 20-25 hrs/week (School year calendar)Position Reports to: Prevention DirectorPurpose: The Children's Advocacy Center of Kent County is seeking a passionate, engaging, and reliable Prevention Educator to join our Kids Have RightsTM team. Prevention Educators deliver school-based child sexual abuse prevention education to elementary-age students throughout Kent County, helping children build body-safety knowledge, develop protective skills, identify trusted adults, and seek help when needed. Through engaging classroom instruction and positive relationship-building with students, educators, school staff, and caregivers, Prevention Educators serve as ambassadors of the Kids Have RightsTM program while advancing our mission of preventing child sexual abuse and promoting the safety and well-being of children in our community.Essential Functions:Partner with schools to deliver body-safety education to elementary and middle school studentsFoster positive relationships with students, educators, school staff, and caregiversRespond appropriately to student disclosures and concernsReport disclosures in accordance with MDHHS guidelines for mandated reporters, adhering to strict confidentiality principlesSupport program evaluation efforts by collecting participant feedback and assisting with data collection activitiesMaintain accurate and timely program and participation recordsParticipate in team meetings, training opportunities, and ongoing professional developmentOther activities as assigned by supervisor or CEO to support the continued growth and success of the Kids Have RightsTM programQualifications:Degree or background in education, child development, social work, or a related field preferredStrong communication and presentation skillsComfortable speaking and engaging with groups of childrenProficiency with Google Workspace and basic technology toolsValid driver's license, reliable transportation, and proof of insurance requiredMileage reimbursement provided for work-related travel between schools and program sites.Work Environment and Physical Requirements:This role involves regular travel to schools throughout Kent County and frequent interaction with children, educators, and caregivers. Prevention Educators work within both school and office environments and may occasionally encounter emotionally challenging situations related to child safety and well-being.Applicants should be comfortable:Standing and presenting for extended periods of timeWorking in active classroom environmentsLifting and transporting educational materials (up to 25 pounds)
