Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA)
Position Summary:The Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) is responsible for the assessment, development, implementation, and oversight of behavior support services for individuals with developmental and/or intellectual disabilities, including those with intensive or high-risk behaviors. The BCBA works collaboratively with House Managers, Crisis Direct Support Professionals (Crisis DSPs), and Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) to ensure the delivery of effective, person-centered, and data-driven interventions. This role is critical in maintaining clinical integrity, reducing behavioral risks, and improving quality of life for individuals served.Key Responsibilities:Assessment & Treatment PlanningConduct functional behavior assessments (FBAs) and other relevant evaluationsDevelop individualized Behavior Support Plans (BSPs) based on assessment data and best practicesIdentify function-based interventions, replacement behaviors, and proactive strategiesEnsure all plans are person-centered, trauma-informed, and least-restrictiveBehavioral Oversight & ImplementationOversee implementation of BSPs by DSPs and Crisis DSPs to ensure fidelity and effectivenessMonitor individual progress through data collection, analysis, and ongoing evaluationModify behavior plans as needed based on data trends and clinical judgmentEnsure interventions align with ethical and professional standardsCrisis Prevention & InterventionDevelop and oversee crisis intervention strategies for individuals with intensive behaviorsEnsure alignment with PCM Practitioner Level 2 principles and safe intervention practicesProvide guidance and real-time support to staff during high-risk situations when neededReview and analyze incident reports to identify patterns and preventative strategiesTraining & Staff DevelopmentTrain DSPs, Crisis DSPs, and House Managers on behavior support plans, data collection, and intervention strategiesProvide ongoing coaching, modeling, and performance feedback to ensure skill developmentSupport staff in developing competency in de-escalation and proactive behavior supportsAssist in maintaining staff readiness for crisis management expectationsCollaboration & CommunicationCollaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including House Managers, nurses, therapists, and external providersCommunicate regularly with families, guardians, and support circle regarding progress and recommendationsParticipate in team meetings, care reviews, and planning sessionsDocumentation & ComplianceMaintain accurate and timely clinical documentation, including assessments, behavior plans, and progress notesEnsure compliance with regulatory standards, ethical guidelines, and organizational policiesAdhere to the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB) Ethics CodeQualifications:Current certification as a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) in good standingMaster’s degree in Applied Behavior Analysis, Psychology, Education, or related fieldExperience working with individuals with developmental disabilities and intensive behaviors preferredStrong knowledge of applied behavior analysis principles and evidence-based practicesMust be able to pass a Level 2 background screeningMust be able to pass Professional Crisis ManagementPreferred Skills:Experience in residential or group home settingsKnowledge of trauma-informed care and positive behavior supportsStrong data analysis and problem-solving skillsAbility to train and mentor staff across varying experience levelsWork Expectations:Ability to work flexible hours to meet the needs of individuals and staff, including occasional evenings or weekendsAvailability to provide support during crisis situations as neededRegular presence in group home settings to observe, assess, and support staff and individualsPhysical Requirements:Ability to observe and respond to behavioral situations in various environmentsMay be required to model or support physical intervention techniques in accordance with training guidelinesCore Competencies:Clinical expertise in behavior analysisLeadership and staff developmentData-driven decision-makingEthical practice and professionalismEffective communication and collaborationPosition Purpose:The BCBA ensures the delivery of high-quality, evidence-based behavioral services that promote safety, independence, and improved outcomes for individuals with complex behavioral needs, while supporting staff in providing consistent and effective care.
