Chef (Part-Time)

Chef Position Founded in 1988, Food & Friends provides medically-tailored meals, nutrition support, and friendship to people living with AIDS, cancer, and other life-challenging illnesses. Our team of seventy employees and thousands of volunteers delivers meals and hope to people living in the District of Columbia and multiple counties across Maryland and Virginia. There is no charge or income qualification for our services, which are rendered solely on the basis of medical need. Food & Friends is proud to be a nationally-recognized leader of the Food is Medicine movement. We seek a Chef to work Monday through Thursday from 7:00 AM to 1:45 PM. The Chef will work alongside our regular culinary team and volunteers preparing a variety of side dishes, entrees, and baked goods. The Chef will also uphold and maintain rigorous sanitary standards and periodically assist with receiving deliveries and inventory. This is a unique opportunity for an experienced culinary professional with part-time availability and a desire to give back to the community. Requirements include at least two years of relevant professional experience, or a degree from a culinary school. Additionally, the Chef must possess Food Safety Manager certification, have good communication skills, and a willingness to work with volunteers. Physical requirements include ability to walk, stir, stoop, grasp, push, stand for prolonged periods, and lift up to 50 lbs. Offer of employment contingent upon a background check and pre-employment drug test. The Chef position pays $28.85 per hour. Due to the part-time nature of this position, benefits are not included.
