Glenwood Springs, ColoradoFull Time The Inpatient Pharmacy Operations Manager provides comprehensive leadership for both the operational and clinical functions of inpatient pharmacy services in a small rural hospital with advanced clinical care. This role is responsible for ensuring safe, efficient medication distribution and high-quality, evidence-based medication therapy. The position directly manages pharmacy technicians and pharmacists, supports advanced clinical services, and serves as a pharmacy lead for Epic Willow inpatient workflows.This role requires a hands-on leader who can balance operational demands with clinical excellence while supporting education and professional development in a resource-limited environment.Key ResponsibilitiesPharmacy Operations & DistributionOversee daily inpatient pharmacy operations, including medication distribution, sterile compounding, automated dispensing cabinets (ADCs), controlled substances, and inventory managementEnsure compliance with USP /, Joint Commission standards, and all applicable state and federal regulationsLead optimization of medication distribution systems, including Client configuration, cart fill workflows, and Epic-Client integrationOversee drug purchasing, shortage mitigation, medication waste reduction, and budget stewardshipDevelop, maintain, and enforce standard operating procedures (SOPs) aligned with regulatory, safety, and operational best practicesLead operational quality improvement initiatives and track performance and safety metricsProvide direct operational support during staffing shortages, off-hours, or high-volume periodsClinical Pharmacy ServicesSupport inpatient clinical pharmacy services across all service lines to ensure safe, effective, and evidence-based medication useLead medication safety initiatives, including adverse drug event review, root cause analysis, and process improvementSupport formulary management, medication utilization evaluations, and Pharmacy & Therapeutics (P&T) Committee activitiesProvide hands-on clinical pharmacist support during high-acuity periods or staffing shortagesEpic Willow LeadershipServe as a pharmacy lead for Epic Willow Inpatient, including both operational and clinical workflowsOversee medication records, order routing, dispense workflows, inventory functionality, and reportingLead clinical decision support (CDS), order sets, pharmacist documentation tools, and intervention trackingCollaborate with IT and clinical stakeholders on Epic upgrades, optimization, and issue resolutionEnsure Epic workflows align with regulatory requirements, patient safety goals, and rural staffing realitiesStaff Leadership, Education & DevelopmentDirectly supervise pharmacy technicians and pharmacists, including hiring, onboarding, scheduling, training, competency validation, and performance managementLead initial and ongoing education for pharmacy staff related to operational workflows, clinical protocols, medication safety, and Epic functionalityPromote technician skill advancement and cross-training to support both operational and clinical needsSupport pharmacist professional development, clinical skill advancement, and practice at the top of licenseProvide medication-related education to nursing staff, providers, and interdisciplinary teams as neededSupport precepting of pharmacy students, residents, or learners when applicableCollaboration & CommunicationCollaborate with nursing, medical staff, quality, supply chain, IT, and hospital leadership to resolve medication-related issuesServe as the primary point of contact for inpatient medication-use processesRepresent pharmacy leadership on hospital committees and interdisciplinary initiativesQualificationsPharmD requiredActive pharmacist license in COHospital pharmacy experience required; rural hospital experience strongly preferredDemonstrated leadership in both pharmacy operations and clinical pharmacy servicesExperience managing pharmacy technicians and pharmacistsEpic Willow Inpatient experience strongly preferredStrong regulatory knowledge, clinical judgment, communication, and teaching skillsBLS - AHAACLS - AHASkills and CertificationsColorado Pharmacist License in good standingPharm DRecruiter Submission TemplateFull Name:Degree Major with University and Completion Year:PharmD (University / Year):Licenses & CertificationsColorado Pharmacist License (Active):BLS - AHA:ACLS - AHA:Total experience as Inpatient Pharmacy Manager?Total Hospital Pharmacy Experience:Years of Pharmacy Leadership Experience:Number of Pharmacists Managed:Number of Technicians Managed:Epic Willow Experience:What experience do you have with USP / and Joint Commission standards?Do you have experience participating in P&T committees or medication safety programs?Motivation / Reason for Relocation (if not local):Motivation / Reason for interest in this position:Contact Number:Email ID:LinkedIn Profile URL:Full Address (Street, City, State, Zip Code):Notice Period (in weeks):Current Work Authorization Status:Expected Salary:Are you able to relocate on your own expenses and work 100% ON-SITE in Glenwood Springs, Colorado?
