About The RoleMedworks is hiring a Certified Surgical First Assistant or Certified Surgical Technologist to join our surgical support team serving hospitals and surgery centers throughout the greater Tidewater, VA region.In this mobile, hands-on role, you will travel between client sites to support surgical teams and operate specialty surgical equipment during procedures. Depending on your certification and experience, you may assist surgeons directly during procedures or support the surgical team by preparing sterile instruments, maintaining the sterile field, and ensuring operating room readiness.You'll play a critical role in the operating room by helping ensure each case proceeds safely, efficiently, and smoothly. From preparing sterile instruments to assisting surgeons and operating Medworks equipment, your work directly contributes to positive patient outcomes.What You'll DoPrepare operating rooms by setting up sterile instruments, surgical equipment, and suppliesAssist surgeons and surgical teams during procedures according to your certification and scope of practiceAnticipate the surgeon and team's needs during procedures and respond efficientlyMaintain aseptic technique and adhere to infection control standardsSupport patient positioning, draping, and sterile field maintenanceOperate and monitor Medworks rental lasers and other specialty surgical equipmentCommunicate clearly with surgeons, nurses, and operating room staffAssist with post-procedure clean-up, equipment breakdown, and restockingComplete required documentation and accurately track equipment usageWhat We're Looking ForCandidates must hold one of the following certifications:Surgical TechnologistCertified Surgical Technologist (CST) through NBSTSA or an equivalent accredited organizationSurgical AssistantCertified Surgical Assistant (CSA)Certified First Assistant (CFA)Certified Surgical First Assistant (CSFA)Surgical Assistant–Certified (SA-C)Additional RequirementsStrong knowledge of surgical procedures, instrumentation, and sterile techniqueAbility to work in a fast-paced clinical environmentExcellent communication, organization, and teamwork skillsReliable transportation and ability to travel between facilitiesPreferred ExperiencePrior surgical technologist or surgical assistant experienceExperience in urology, gynecology, or general surgeryExperience working in hospitals or ambulatory surgery centersSchedule & TravelPrimarily Monday–Friday scheduleSchedule based on surgical case times (early starts or extended days may occur)Occasional on-call rotation as neededPeriodic travel outside the local area may be required to support business needsCompensation & BenefitsCompensation varies based on role, certification, and experience.Surgical Assistant: $93,500 – $102,200 per yearCertified Surgical Technologist: $80,000 – $88,000 per yearMedworks Offers a Comprehensive Benefits Package IncludingMedical, dental, and vision coverageRetirement plan optionsPaid time off and paid holidaysCompany-provided training and developmentAbout MedworksMedworks is a surgical equipment support and services provider specializing in urology, gynecology, and general surgery.
