Operations Supervisor – Dairy Digester Facilities (2 Sites)Position Summary
The Operations Supervisor is responsible for the safe, efficient, and environmentally compliant operation of two dairy anaerobic digester facilities. This role provides day-to-day leadership for facility operations, maintenance activities, personnel, contractors, and regulatory compliance while ensuring maximum biogas production, equipment reliability, and operational efficiency. The Operations Supervisor works closely with farm management, utility partners, equipment vendors, and company leadership to meet production and environmental goals.
Key Responsibilities Operations Supervisor
Oversee the daily operation of two dairy digester facilities.
Monitor and optimize biogas production, methane quality, and renewable natural gas (RNG) or electricity generation.
Ensure all process equipment operates safely and efficiently.
Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs).
Coordinate daily operational schedules between both sites.
Maintenance & Reliability
Plan and supervise preventive and corrective maintenance programs.
Coordinate repairs with maintenance technicians and outside contractors.
Monitor equipment performance, including pumps, mixers, boilers, compressors, flare systems, separators, generators, and gas upgrading equipment.
Maintain inventory of critical spare parts and operating supplies.
Safety & Environmental Compliance
Promote a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with OSHA, environmental, and company safety standards.
Conduct regular safety meetings, inspections, and incident investigations.
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local environmental regulations, permits, and reporting requirements.
Maintain accurate operational logs and regulatory documentation.
Personnel Leadership
Supervise and mentor operations and maintenance personnel.
Schedule staffing to ensure adequate coverage at both facilities.
Conduct employee training and performance evaluations.
Foster teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Performance Monitoring
Track key performance indicators including:
Biogas production
Equipment uptime
Plant efficiency
Downtime events
Maintenance costs
Safety performance
Analyze operational data and recommend process improvements.
Budget & Administration
Assist with annual operating budgets.
Manage operating expenses while maintaining reliability and compliance.
Approve work orders, purchase requests, and contractor services.
Prepare operational reports for management.
Qualifications
Experience in industrial operations, wastewater treatment, renewable energy, agriculture, or biogas production is a plus.
2+ years of supervisory or leadership experience.
Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
Knowledge of pumps, motors, PLC-controlled equipment, and industrial process systems.
Valid driver's license.
Preferred
Experience operating anaerobic digesters or renewable natural gas (RNG) facilities.
Knowledge of dairy operations and manure handling systems.
OSHA safety training.
Experience with SCADA systems and computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
Knowledge of environmental permitting and compliance.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office and operational reporting software.

Physical Requirements
Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Ability to climb ladders, work at heights, and enter confined spaces with proper training.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
Ability to respond to emergency call-outs outside of normal working hours when necessary.
Working Conditions
This position requires regular travel between two dairy digester sites. The Operations Supervisor must be available for occasional evening, weekend, and emergency response responsibilities to ensure continuous and safe facility operations.
