Salary: Based on Experience The following information aims to provide potential candidates with a better understanding of the requirements for this role.Job PurposeSupervise night mechanicsScheduleSunday through Saturday morning 6:00 pm - 4:30 or 5:00 am10 to 12 hour shiftsJob DutiesSelects and assigns staff to shop jobsEvaluates and verifies employee performance through the review of completed work assignments and work techniquesEnsures Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations are followed for the safety of all employeesOversees the overhauling and rebuilding of trucks, tractors, pumps, cranes, and other standard or specialized gasoline, diesel, and manually operated firefighting machinery and equipmentDiagnoses difficult problems, recommends repairs, and determines if service will be completed by subordinate staff or vendorsInspects, tests, and adjusts equipmentSupervises and participates in the fabrication and construction of specialized tools and equipmentPrepares cost and material estimatesPerforms any task assigned to subordinate staff, consistent with any licensing or certification requirementsWork along side of other employeesCommunicate xmcpwfu with Shop Supervisor, Ray SallaRequirementsSix years of previous diesel mechanic experienceExcellent ability to supervise a teamExcellent ability to instruct and mentor a team of diesel mechanicsAbility to monitor and evaluate problemsExcellent organizational skillsExcellent communication skillsExcellent computer skills
