Creates zoning, historic, annexation, and other maps using data and geographic information. Generates addressing plats and updates street name list and range maps.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
The intent of this job description is to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities performed by employees in this job. Employees may be requested to perform job-related tasks other than those specifically presented in this description.
Generates addressing plats utilizing Geographic Information Systems and drawing tools.
Updates street name list by comparing the new subdivision plats versus the GIS data and existing plats.
Performs technical duties in the maintenance, development, and operation of the geographic information systems.
Creates, maintains, and edits departmental shape files and layers.
Prepares a variety of analysis of electronic information, including the preparation of multi-layered and linked maps and tabular data; prepares graphic materials and assists staff in interpreting the results.
Ensures the quality and accuracy of a variety of geographic information system data, including researching and revising maps and data from other data sources.
Performs related work as required.

Physical Effort Requirements
Position will have the following exposures

Required Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree from an accredited* college or university in Geography or Information Systems
At least one (1) year of experience in geographic information systems
*Council of Higher Education Accreditation (C.H.E.A.)
Required Licenses or Certifications
Valid Texas Driver License. If applicant holds an out-of-state license, a State of Texas Driver License must be obtained within 6 months of employment.
