About The RoleThe Thames Water Shared Apprenticeship Scheme are looking for a Health, Safety & Environment Apprentice. In the West London - Guildford Area.The Thames Water Shared Apprenticeship Scheme, is a bespoke apprenticeship programme sponsored by Thames Water to address the skills gaps within their supply chain. The scheme features a compulsory industry rotation to enable apprentices to get experience in different environments and boost the chances of further employment in the sector.RequirementsThe role will be both office and site based providing advice to others on how to work without harming themselves or others. Technicians will work with management and delivery teams to advise on the statutory health, safety and environmental requirements as they affect the company’s operations. They will assist the management team in ensuring that the legal and company SHE requirements are implemented. Duties may include:Develop, review, and execute safe systems of work.Create and deliver training packages (e.g., toolbox talks & inductions)Investigate and report incidents in the workplace.Analyse data and present findings to the management teamUndertake site visits to construction sites to check on site safety standards.Review and approve risk assessments and method statements.Enforce health and safety requirements.Identify hazards and implement solutions.Planning emergency procedures.Adhering to environmental and safety laws.Implement health and safety standards such as ISO 45001 etc.Typical Working Week40 hours p/w with start time typically between 07:00 & 08:00 inclusive of paid 8 hours at college.Person SpecificationProactive approach, taking pride in their work and taking accountability for decisions.A love of variety in a role and ability to adapt to a dynamic, fast-paced working environmentAbility to quickly prioritise tasks and the initiative to dive head-first into problem solvingNo two days are the same on the front line and not every day goes to plan, so you’ll need to be quick on your feet to respond! Excellent communication and collaboration skills and enjoy working with multiple teamsAbility to analyse and interpret information and effectively communicate this to different team members and audiencesAbility to visit different sites and training daysCuriosity to learn quickly in a reactive and dynamic working environment. Ability to work in all weather conditions to serve our customers and protect the environmentAble to understand and follow health and safety protocolsQualifications Required/desirableMinimum RequirementsEnglish and Maths at GCSE Grade 3 / D or above, or Functional Skills at Level 1 or above.Desired RequirementsThe passion and commitment to work in water treatment. It will be advantageous if you already have previous related work experience and a SHEA Card, but certainly not essential.Key Training/College InformationK10 will enrol you to the Level 3 Safety, Health & Environment Technician course and fund your qualifications through an accredited training provider.The apprenticeship duration is 24 months.EligibilityTo Start This Apprenticeship, You’ll Need To BeLiving in England for the last 3 years and have right to work statusNot enrolled on any other courses18+ due to site H&S rulesHave a full UK Driving Licence and full access to your own vehicleWho We AreWe are UK’s largest construction-specific Flexi-Job Apprenticeship Agency.
