REIT Controller – Consulting EngagementDallas, TexasPosition OverviewPay DOE - please apply and I can call you We are seeking an experienced REIT Controller to support a dynamic real estate organization on a consulting basis in Dallas. This role will oversee core accounting operations, financial reporting, compliance, and process improvement initiatives within a REIT environment. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical accounting expertise, leadership capabilities, and experience managing complex real estate accounting functions in a fast-paced setting.Key Responsibilities• Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes for REIT operations• Prepare and review financial statements in accordance with GAAP and REIT compliance requirements• Manage general ledger activity, account reconciliations, and consolidation processes• Coordinate with external auditors, tax advisors, and internal stakeholders• Ensure compliance with SEC reporting requirements, internal controls, and regulatory standards• Support budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow analysis initiatives• Lead process improvement efforts to enhance accounting efficiency and reporting accuracy• Supervise and mentor accounting staff and collaborate cross-functionally with asset management, acquisitions, and finance teams• Assist with system implementations, integrations, and accounting policy development as neededQualifications• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required; CPA a plus• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience with significant exposure to real estate or REIT environments• Strong understanding of GAAP, and REIT compliance requirements• Experience managing month-end close and financial reporting processes• Advanced proficiency in Excel and ERP/accounting systems• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills• Ability to operate independently in a consulting or project-based environmentPreferred Experience• Public accounting background preferred• Experience with Yardi, MRI, or similar real estate accounting platforms• Prior experience supporting publicly traded REITs or institutional real estate firmsEngagement Details• Consulting / contract-based opportunity• Dallas-based with potential hybrid flexibility• Competitive compensation based on experience and project scope
