Minimum qualifications: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience. 2 years of experience programming in Java, Python, Kotlin, NodeJS, Go, or any variant of C. Preferred qualifications: 2 years of experience with performance, large-scale systems data analysis, visualization tools, or debugging. Experience with SQL, data pipelines, data warehousing/analysis, and metric design. Experience in code and system health, diagnosis and resolution, and software test engineering. About the job Software engineering is seeing its biggest paradigm shift since higher-level languages. Developer Intelligence is Google's team of experts advising it on how to help developers become maximally productive, happy, and effective in this new era. Developer Intelligence Platforms delivers these insights to Google leaders via self-service platforms. Developer Intelligence Platforms engineering team seeks to empower and inform Google decision makers with productivity insights through scalable self-service platforms. The team comprises a UI surfaces workstream, an Agentic AI experiences workstream, and a Data Warehouse workstream all of whom contribute to pipeline and user experience development and maintenance as well as metric storage and visualization. We collaborate with AI measurement teams, Engineering Productivity Researchers and Data Scientists, our colleagues in Developer Intelligence. Developer Intelligence is a uniquely cross-functional organization comprising software engineering, user experience (research, design, content strategy), and data science disciplines joining forces to empower and influence decision makers with actionable insights and contextualized data and tools to improve development and product velocity for all developers. The Core team builds the technical foundation behind Google’s flagship products. We are owners and advocates for the underlying design elements, developer platforms, product components, and infrastructure at Google. These are the essential building blocks for excellent, safe, and coherent experiences for our users and drive the pace of innovation for every developer. As the Core team, we have a mandate and a unique opportunity to impact important technical decisions across the company. The US base salary range for this full-time position is $141,000-$202,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities Help enable users to find and understand our content, dig into underlying data, understand contributing factors, and annotate trends. You will help us evaluate large bodies of data that are not yet compiled into well-researched metrics. Participate in, or lead design reviews with peers and stakeholders to decide amongst available technologies. Review code developed by other developers and provide feedback to ensure best practices (e.g., style guidelines, checking code in, accuracy, testability, and efficiency). Contribute to existing documentation or educational content and adapt content based on product/program updates and user feedback. Help build multiple tools or prototypes in a data-rich environment, ideally serving data analysis or data exploration use cases.
