Manager, Sales Engineering - Switchgear

Powering Growth Through Strategic Sales Engineering Leadership!MEPPI’s High Voltage Switchgear Division (HVSD) is seeking a dynamic and commercially savvy Sales Engineering Section Manager to lead the Sales Engineering team. In this influential role, you will guide customer account management, develop winning bid strategies, support contract negotiations, and ensure the seamless transition of orders into internal fulfillment—driving both customer satisfaction and business success.What You’ll DoLead Sales Engineering Operations: Direct Sales Engineering activities to maintain high levels of customer satisfaction, ensure technical and commercial commitments are met, and support the development and expansion of partnership customer agreements.Develop & Mentor Your Team: Lead staff in accordance with Company policies; train and cross-train employees, facilitate continuing education, conduct performance reviews, and provide input for salary decisions.Drive Competitive Bid Strategy: Oversee bid strategy development and approve pricing that supports division margin requirements while reflecting market competitiveness for high-voltage switchgear products and services.Negotiate Customer Contracts: Lead negotiations for customer commercial contracts, ensuring favorable terms and alignment with HVSD objectives.Communicate Section Activities: Prepare and deliver timely updates on Sales Engineering activities, progress, and priorities.Represent HVSD Externally: Prepare marketing materials and participate in trade shows, seminars, customer visits, and MELCO facility engagements.Support Business Planning: Assist in sales forecasting, budget development, staffing plans, and expense management.Promote Division Excellence: Represent HVSD professionally through effective collaboration and communication with customers, internal departments, and MELCO partners.Champion Quality, Safety & Environment: Maintain a strong understanding of MEPPI’s Quality, Safety, and Environmental policies and communicate their importance in daily operations.What You BringEducation & Experience:Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical EngineeringMinimum 5 years of experience in sales or sales engineering with an electrical manufacturing organizationMinimum 3 years of management experience, or equivalent education and experienceTechnical ExpertiseAdvanced knowledge of electrical transmission productsAbility to read, interpret, and understand customer drawings, technical specifications, and testing requirementsSkills & AttributesAdvanced analytical and problem-solving abilitiesStrong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skillsStrong negotiation experience with customer contractsAbility to lead teams and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environmentTechnology ProficiencyAdvanced computer skills with MS OfficeExperience with MRP/ERP systemsWhat’s in It for You?Comprehensive Health Coverage: MEPPI pays 90% of medical, dental, and vision plan costsRetirement Plans: 401(k) with a company match up to 4%Generous Paid Time Off: Vacation eligibility after 90 days, plus 12 paid holidaysCareer Development: Access to training programs, leadership development, and educational assistanceExclusive Employee Perks: Profit sharing, 24/7 fitness center access, and a robust Wellness ProgramWhy MEPPIAs part of the HVSD team, you will help deliver industry-leading high-voltage switchgear solutions that power critical infrastructure across North America.
