Custodian (Afternoon)

Job Description:* The school custodian keeps educational facilities clean, safe, and functional by performing daily cleaning of the school facility, ensuring a positive learning environment for students and staff through diligent upkeep and attention to detail that creates a conducive, healthy environment for learning.* This is an afternoon position working 2pm - 10:30pm, 260 days, 8 hr/dayJob Responsibilities:Trash collection and removal, sweeping, mopping, and dustingRegular cleaning of plumbing fixtures, window glass, and stairways also requiredThis job requires occasional heavy lifting and some knowledge of industrial cleaning equipment and appliancesMust be able to climb a ladder to assist with changing ceiling tiles and light bulbs in ceiling fixturesAbility to make minor repairs to building interiors and exteriors as neededAssist with the removal of snow and ice anytime of the day or night to include weekends and holidaysAssist with after school athletic events when requestedMaintain playground spaces and equipmentPerform related duties as assignedJob Qualifications:Must have the ability to push, pull, lift and carry items weighing more than 10 poundsMust be able to bend over, reach downward or upward, and to wring a wet mopMust maintain storage areas in an organized fashionMaintain school facilities and grounds in condition of operating excellence, cleanliness and safety so that full educational use of the facility can take placeMechanical skills and previous working and maintenance experience with landscaping/janitorial equipment will be beneficialFloor care experience is beneficialMust be able to work alone or as part of a teamHigh school diploma or equivalent and must have the ability to communicate with fellow employees and read EnglishKnowledge of cleaning principles and safety proceduresAbility to work independently and follow instructionsCandidate must be motivated to assist routinely with staffing assorted after school events to include athletics, facility rentals, special events, etc. These events include evening and weekend availability.Candidate will attend and complete a Certified Pool Operator Certification ProgramUpon offer, applicant must complete and clear a drug screen and expanded criminal history background check for school personnel as required by IN state law.LCSC offers a comprehensive benefit package that includes health insurance (three plan options to choose from and use of LCSC Wellness Clinic if enrolling in one of the three plans), long-term disability and $50,000 term life insurance policy.
