Intern - AI & Process Automation

Location: Ashburn, VA - OnsitePosition SummaryWe are seeking one or more motivated and technology-driven AI & Process Automation Interns to work closely with various departments across the organization to identify, document, analyze, and automate manual business processes.The intern will collaborate with teams such as HR, Finance, IT, Federal, Civic & Infrastructure Service to understand current workflows, identify inefficiencies, and help implement automation solutions using tools such as Microsoft Power Automate, Power Apps, AI tools, and other workflow technologies.This role provides hands-on experience in business process improvement, automation, AI adoption, and digital transformation initiatives.Key ResponsibilitiesMeet with departments across the organization to understand and document current manual workflows and business processes.Analyze repetitive tasks and identify opportunities for automation and operational improvement.Create process maps, workflow diagrams, and automation documentation.Assist in designing and implementing workflow automations using:Microsoft Power AutomateMicrosoft Power AppsAI and Generative AI toolsForms and approval workflowsAPI integrations and low-code platformsSupport automation initiatives for:Employee onboardingApproval workflowsNotifications and alertsData collection and reportingContract and document routingService request trackingDashboard and reporting automationWork with IT and business teams to test, troubleshoot, and improve automated workflows.Help create user guides and training materials for implemented solutions.Research emerging AI and automation technologies that can improve business efficiency.Participate in digital transformation and process optimization initiatives.Pursuing or recently completed a degree in:Computer ScienceInformation SystemsBusiness AnalyticsData ScienceEngineeringRelated fieldStrong interest in AI, automation, workflow optimization, and business technology.Familiarity with:Microsoft Power AutomateMicrosoft Power AppsMicrosoft 365Excel, SharePoint, and TeamsBasic understanding of APIs, databases, and automation concepts.Strong communication, documentation, and organizational skills.Ability to work independently and interact professionally with different departments.Preferred SkillsExperience with:AI chatbots or copilotsDashboard tools such as Microsoft Power BILow-code/no-code automation platformsScripting using Python or JavaScriptExposure to cloud platforms such as Microsoft AzureUnderstanding of process improvement methodologiesLearning OpportunitiesInterns will obtain hands-on experience in:Business process analysisWorkflow automationAI-assisted operationsLow-code developmentCross-department collaborationDigital transformation initiativesEnterprise productivity platformsExample ProjectsAutomating employee onboarding workflowsDigital approval and signature processesAutomated notifications and escalation workflowsDashboard automation and reporting workflowsKnowledge base and self-service solutionsInternship DetailsDuration: 3–6 months (flexible)Bring your passion, expertise, and experience to IBTS, where we appreciate and are committed to our employees.
