GitHub Architect | Pittsburgh (Hybrid) | $175,000My client are looking for a GitHub Architect to lead the design and evolution of enterprise-grade developer platforms powered by GitHub. This role blends platform engineering, DevSecOps, and AI-enabled development, with a strong focus on improving developer productivity and accelerating delivery.You will operate as both a strategic advisor and hands-on architect, partnering with engineering leaders to transform how software is built, secured, and deployed.What You’ll Be DoingArchitect and scale GitHub Enterprise (Cloud/Server) environments across complex organizationsDefine best practices for repo strategy, branching, and access controlDesign and optimize CI/CD pipelines using GitHub ActionsBuild reusable automation frameworks, workflows, and developer templatesIntegrate GitHub with AWS, Azure, or GCP ecosystemsLead adoption of AI-assisted development (e.g. Copilot) across engineering teamsImplement DevOps best practices using GitHub Advanced SecurityDrive governance, compliance, and secure SDLC standardsEnhance developer experience (DevEx) through platform standardization and self-service toolingAct as a trusted advisor to stakeholders, leading workshops and transformation initiativesWhat We’re Looking For5+ years in software engineering, DevOps, or platform engineeringStrong hands-on experience with GitHub Enterprise & GitHub ActionsDeep understanding of CI/CD, Git workflows, and repository managementExperience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Bicep, CloudFormation)Cloud expertise across AWS, Azure, or GCPSolid grounding in DevSecOps and secure SDLC practicesExperience designing enterprise-scale developer platformsNice to HaveExperience with GitHub Copilot or AI-assisted development toolsExposure to platform engineering / internal developer portals (e.g. Backstage)Knowledge of SOC 2, ISO 27001, or similar frameworksBackground in migrations from GitLab, Bitbucket, or SVN to GitHubProgramming/scripting in Python, TypeScript, or GoWhat Success Looks LikeA scalable, standardized GitHub platform adopted across teamsFaster delivery cycles and improved developer productivitySecure, automated, and compliant SDLCStrong adoption of AI-assisted engineering practices
