Senior Software Engineer (Frontend / Vue.js)Reports to: Development ManagerSalary: Up to $140,000 based on experienceOnTheClock is looking for a Senior Software Engineer with strong expertise in Vue.js and modern frontend development to join our growing engineering team. You'll specialize in our web frontend (Vue.js 3/Nuxt 3/TypeScript) while working full-stack across our .NET backend APIs, SQL Server database, and AWS infrastructure. OnTheClock is a successful Michigan-based SaaS company serving over 160,000 monthly active users with time tracking, scheduling, and payroll solutions.OnTheClock is investing in engineering excellence, and we're building out a strong internal engineering team. As we scale toward our ambitious long-term goal of reaching 1 million users, we need exceptional software engineers who want to be a part of establishing the technical foundation, culture, and practices for our team.This isn't just another senior software engineering role. If you're looking for narrow specialization (that you might find at a larger company), this won't be a good fit for you.If you're a senior engineer who wants ownership, variety, impact, and the chance to help establish engineering excellence, not just maintain what already exists, keep reading.Our Current Tech Stack (What You Will Be Working With)Backend: C#, .NET, Web API, Entity Framework, MediatR (CQRS)Frontend: Vue.js 3, Nuxt 3, TypeScript, Pinia, Vite, Bootstrap VueMobile: .NET MAUI (Android and iOS)Database: SQL ServerInfrastructure: AWS (EC2, S3, Cognito), Windows Servers, IIS, GitHub ActionsMonitoring: New Relic, SentryResponsibilities (What You'll Be Doing)Design, build, ship, and maintain features across our web application (Vue.js 3/Nuxt 3/TypeScript), with contributions to our backend APIs (.NET/C#/Web API), that serve 160,000+ monthly active usersBuild responsive, accessible, and performant user interfaces using Vue.js 3, Nuxt 3, and TypeScriptProvide technical leadership and expertise across projects, offering architecture guidance, system design recommendations, and best practicesOwn significant technical areas end-to-end, from database schema design to frontend UI, taking initiative to identify improvements and drive them to completionConduct thorough code reviews and architecture reviews, raising the bar for code quality and helping the team make better technical decisionsCollaborate closely with Product and the Development Manager to shape the technical roadmap and prioritize engineering initiativesDebug and resolve production issues using monitoring tools like New Relic and Sentry, participating in an on-call rotation to ensure system reliabilityWork on AWS infrastructure (EC2, S3, IAM), CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions), and DevOps processes to improve deployment reliability and developer productivityMentor other engineers as the team grows, sharing knowledge through code reviews, pair programming, documentation, and fostering a culture of continuous learningRequired Qualifications - Technical6+ years of relevant professional software engineering experience, building production web applicationsStrong expertise in modern frontend development (advanced)Vue.js 3, Nuxt 3, TypeScriptComponent architecture, state management (Pinia/Vuex), reactive patternsHTML5, CSS3, responsive design, accessibility fundamentalsBuild tooling (Vite, Webpack), performance optimizationREST API consumption and frontend/backend integrationStrong backend capabilities (proficient)Willing and able to work in .NET/C# backend code, and write API endpointsNot just a frontend specialist, you can trace a bug from the UI through the API to the databaseStrong SQL Server or relational database experience (proficient)Experience with production support, monitoring tools (New Relic, Sentry, or similar), and comfort with on-call rotation (proficient)Required Qualifications - Non-TechnicalProactive and takes initiative: You see problems and fix them.
