Junior CAD Designer

Role Summary / PurposeThe Junior CAD Designer provides drafting, design, and documentation support to the engineering and manufacturing teams. This role applies fundamental CAD and engineering principles to assist with product design, tooling concepts, and manufacturing documentation while developing technical skills in a production environment.Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities:CAD & Product Design SupportAssist senior designers and engineers with 2D and 3D CAD drawings for new and existing productsCreate and revise part and assembly drawings under guidanceSupport minor design changes and updates to mature productsAssist with the design and documentation of basic tooling such as fixtures, work supports, and templatesManufacturing & Production SupportPrepare CAD files for manufacturing processes including laser, plasma, or punch operations (training provided)Work with engineering and production teams to ensure drawings are clear, accurate, and manufacturableAssist in creating basic work instructions and shop drawingsRespond to manufacturing questions related to drawings and dimensionsDocumentation & Data ManagementMaintain drawings, models, and related documentation in the engineering database in accordance with standardsEnsure revisions, part numbers, and change records are accurate and up to dateAssist with technical documentation and communication with internal teams and external vendors as neededEssential QualificationsCompletion of a College diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology, CAD Technology, or a related fieldBasic proficiency with CAD software (AutoCAD, Autodesk Inventor, or similar)Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)Strong attention to detail and willingness to learnClear verbal and written communication skillsDesired Qualifications/AssetsExposure to sheet metal design and fabrication conceptsFamiliarity with Autodesk Vault or other document control systemsBasic understanding of manufacturing processes such as CNC cutting, punching, or formingExperience through co-op, internship, or entry-level role in a manufacturing environmentInterest in lean manufacturing and continuous improvementStrong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving mindsetJob Type: Full-time
