Assistant Controller

Assistant Controller(Loop, Hybrid) Madison Street Search has partnered with a highly dynamic, financial services firm to identify an Assistant Controller. This role will oversee corporate accounting across a complex, multi-entity structure while leading a team and partnering closely with senior leadership. This is a high-visibility opportunity with a clear succession path to Controller, supporting both current team leadership needs and long-term organizational growth. ResponsibilitiesLead the corporate accounting team, overseeing the month-end close and financial reporting Lead the consolidation of multiple entities, including intercompany activity and investment accounting Manage and develop a team of 4–5 direct reportsPartner cross-functionally with FP&A, treasury, and operational accounting teamsDrive process improvements, automation, and standardization across the function Ensure strong internal controls and accurate financial reporting Manage external audit process and support strategic initiatives, including M&A RequirementsBachelor’s degree in Accounting CPA required8–12+ years of progressive accounting experience in financial services or insurance industriesMulti-entity consolidation experience required Proven leadership experience with direct people management Experience with large ERP systems (NetSuite preferred) Track record of process ownership and improvement PerksClear path to Controller as part of succession planning Hybrid flexibility 401(k) with match Comprehensive healthcare benefits HSA contribution matchCompetitive PTO + parental leave Tuition reimbursement and professional development support
