Data Engineer (Integration & SQL Server DBA Backup)

Description GENERAL DESCRIPTION: Wilen is a data-driven marketing services provider delivering innovative solutions that help organizations connect with their customers across channels. We are seeking a highly dependable Data Engineer to support and enhance our enterprise data integration ecosystem. This role is primarily focused on system integration (approx. 66%) using SSIS and Azure Data Factory, with a secondary responsibility as a backup SQL Server DBA (approx. 34%) supporting our production database environment. The ideal candidate is a steady, reliable professional who takes ownership of critical data pipelines and infrastructure-someone who keeps the buses running and ensures data flows consistently, securely, and efficiently across systems. RESPONSIBILITIES (including, but not limited to): All lawful directives of your supervisor or a member of Company management Data Integration & Engineering (66%)Design, develop, and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines using SSIS and Azure Data FactoryBuild and support integrations across diverse data sourcesMonitor, troubleshoot, and optimize data workflowsImplement robust error handling, logging, and validation processesTranslate business requirements into scalable data solutionsSupport modernization from on-prem to cloud SQL Server DBA Backup (34%)Provide secondary support for SQL Server and Azure SQL Managed InstanceAssist with Availability Groups, backups/restores, and HA configurationsMonitor performance and implement tuning improvementsSupport patching, upgrades, and maintenanceParticipate in incident response as needed QUALIFICATIONS:Proven track record in system integration and data pipelinesStrong experience with SQL Server, SSIS, and Azure Data FactoryExperience with Availability Groups and Azure SQL Managed InstanceStrong SQL and performance tuning skillsExperience with structured and semi-structured dataSolid data validation and error handling practices Preferred QualificationsHybrid cloud/on-prem experienceCI/CD for data pipelinesCloud storage integration (Azure Blob, S3)Scripting (PowerShell, Python)Data governance and security exposure What We're Looking ForAbility to thrive in an environment where business needs and market conditions require continuous adaptationSelf-reliant and proactive, able to translate shifting priorities into actionable technical work with minimal oversightA strong communicator who is comfortable offering opinions, not just taking requirements This job description is subject to change from time to time at the Company's discretion.
