The Opportunity
A highly regarded insurance carrier is seeking an experienced Trial Attorney or Senior Trial Attorney to cover New York City and the boroughs. This position is hybrid: two days onsite in Elmsford, NY; three days remote. Base salary is $160K-$170K at the Trial Attorney level with a 10% bonus; $170K-$180K at the Senior Trial Attorney level with a 15% bonus. The successful candidate will handle the defense of litigation matters from inception through resolution. This role involves managing personal injury and property damage cases in Westchester, Rockland and Orange Counties with some occasional matters in the New York City area, developing litigation strategy, conducting discovery, and trying cases to conclusion. The attorney will work closely with support staff and regularly communicate with clients, claims professionals, opposing counsel, and the courts.
Primary Duties
Defend civil litigation matters through trial, including ADR
Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, reports, and legal opinions
Manage discovery, depositions, expert selection, and trial preparation
Develop and execute case strategy
Provide timely status updates, analysis, and recommendations to claims personnel
Conduct legal research and report on relevant statutory and case law developments
Requirements
Minimum of 5+ years of New York litigation experience for the Trial Attorney position and minimum of 15+ years of experience for the Senior Trial Attorney position
Juris Doctor from an ABA-accredited law school
Active, good‑standing member of the New York Bar
Strong trial, research, writing, and client communication skills
Knowledge of New York laws, courts, and procedures
Proficiency with legal research tools and Microsoft Office
