Industrial Refrigeration Technician

Job DescriptionWe are seeking an experienced Industrial Refrigeration Technician to support plant utilities and production by maintaining and operating ammonia and Freon refrigeration systems. This is a hands-on role responsible for ensuring system reliability, efficiency, and compliance in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.This opportunity is with a well-established manufacturer that has been in operation for over a century and continues to invest in facility upgrades, automation, and infrastructure-offering long-term stability and growth.Key Responsibilities:Maintain and repair industrial refrigeration systems, including ammonia and Freon systemsPerform preventative and predictive maintenance on compressors, pumps, fans, heat exchangers, and glycol systemsMonitor and record temperatures and humidity levels; make system adjustments as neededTroubleshoot issues across refrigeration, utilities, and related mechanical/electrical systemsSupport plant equipment including motors, power distribution, and PLC-controlled systemsComplete and document preventative maintenance and work ordersEnsure compliance with safety, GMP, and food safety standardsMaintain clean, safe, and organized work areasAssist in training and mentoring entry-level refrigeration techniciansParticipate in continuous improvement efforts to reduce downtime and improve system performanceQualifications:Experience working with industrial ammonia refrigeration systems requiredStrong troubleshooting skills across mechanical, electrical, and utility systemsExperience with compressors, glycol systems, and heat exchangersAbility to read mechanical drawings and technical documentationExperience in manufacturing or food production environments preferredKnowledge of PLC-controlled equipment is a plusStrong communication skills and ability to work in a team environmentWork Environment & Requirements:Ability to support a 24/7 operation, including weekends and off-shifts as neededAbility to stand, walk, bend, climb, and work in tight or confined spacesAbility to lift up to 50 lbs frequently and 75 lbs occasionallyExposure to a manufacturing environment with moving equipment and moderate to high noise levelsBenefits:Competitive hourly payMedical, dental, vision, and life insurance401(k)Health savings accountPaid time offEmployee Assistance Program (EAP)Why This Opportunity:Stable, long-standing company with consistent growthContinued investment in refrigeration systems, equipment, and facility infrastructureCritical role supporting plant utilities and production uptimeOpportunity to take ownership of systems and mentor junior team members
