Nurse Assistant- Med Surg 6 West

Nurse Assistant Job, 12 hour night shift (7p-7:30a), Med Surg 6 West Powers Health is hiring a Nurse Assistant for 6 West to work 12 hour nights at Community Hospital in Munster, IN. 6 West is a 26 bed medical/surgical floor with all private rooms including 6 negative pressure isolation rooms where the nursing staff provides high quality, individualized care to patients with a variety of chronic and acute medical/surgical conditions and gynecology overflow patients. The minimum age of patients admitted is 12 years of age, but the average age is 63 years. The unit has approximately 75% of the patients being surgical patients and 25% being general medical patients. Nurse Assistant Roles and Responsibilities: Performs various designated patient care activities necessary in caring for the personal needs, comfort and safety of the patient in accordance with Hospital Policy and Nursing Service Standards. Assists patients with ADLs, ambulation, mobility, positioning, turning and lifting while maintaining all Safety Patient Care Practices. Assists patients with transfers and discharges. Assists patients with nutritional needs ie passing and collecting food trays, feeding patients, providing fresh water every shift, assist with maintenance of special diets and between meal nourishment. Required Skills # Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalency preferred. One year direct patient care experience with successful completion of competency exam, completion of one semester of clinicals in nursing program or completion of nursing assistant certification required. CPR certification required. Completes annual skill validations as well as safety and infection control procedures.
